Is [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] too 1940s/1950s?
what do people here think of it in general?
It reminds me of tracing a drawing.
It’s not exactly a fashionable name, but that doesn’t make it bad.
It’s fairly inoffensive, easy to say and spell.
It’s not a common name among babies, so a girl called [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] will likely be the only one in her class.
I associate it more with the 60s and 70s: Popularity for the name Tracy - Behind the Name
As it’s kind of androgynous, I recommend a feminine middle name, and maybe a more fashionable middle name if you’re concerned about it being dated.
Like
[name_u]Tracy[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]
[name_u]Tracy[/name_u] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Tracy[/name_u] [name_f]Marina[/name_f]
etc
I immediately think of it as a dated name.
That aside though, I don’t think [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] has a pleasant sound at all. It sounds like a descriptive term, like when you say someone has a flaky personality. I know that sounds a bit ridiculous…lol But those are my thoughts.
I dont like it, sorry. It reminds me of trasy.
I like [name_u]Tracy[/name_u]. I have known a few [name_u]Tracy[/name_u]'s my age (all female), born in the mid 1980’s. I don’t think it’s a “dated” name. I think it would do just fine in the years to come for your child!
It’s super dated.
I was born in the mid-1980s, and I don’t know anyone named [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] who’s my age. [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] is the mom of everyone I grew up with. Very likely it will feel like an “grandma name” for the next couple of decades. I like it better than a lot of the other mid-century diminutive names, though. Seems more modern than [name_u]Stacy[/name_u], for some reason, though both have always sounded like nicknames to me.
I think it is dated but that it could be ready for a comeback. The [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] I know is a lovely person and I could imagine a little girl with this name.
[name_u]Tracy[/name_u] was my go-to alias when I was a kid: it had such a beautiful, strong image for me. I only know one [name_u]Tracy[/name_u], she’s in her thirties and is every bit of the image I grew up with. Now I do think of [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], which just improves the name for me!
Very dated to me
It feels really dated to me, too - I would’ve said 1970s-80s though, not '40s-'50s.
