His naming style is MUCH different than mine. I do not like top 100 names. The first three are names that we hear a lot around here - family, friends. I HATE the nicknames [name]Will[/name], [name]Mike[/name], [name]Alex[/name] and [name]Nate[/name]. The only one out of his that I would even consider for a child would be [name]Isaac[/name]. I sort of like it, but I don’t love it.
Any suggestions for strong and sturdy boy’s names that might go along with my husband’s style?
[name]Do[/name] you like any other nicknames for these- [name]Liam[/name], [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Alec[/name], [name]Xander[/name], [name]Anders[/name], [name]Al[/name], [name]Sandy[/name], [name]Santo[/name]?
I’m not great at this, but a few popped into mind. I have no idea where they are ranked, though:
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Noah[/name] (this one is getting popular, I think)
[name]Andrew[/name]
[name]Adam[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name]
[name]Jeremiah[/name] (this is one of my faves, as are [name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]William[/name], so maybe he’ll like it too!)
[name]Gregory[/name]
[name]Ansel[/name] (not sure this is either of your styles, but it just came to mind for some reason)
Can’t get more classic than [name]John[/name], [name]Andrew[/name] or [name]Thomas[/name]. All of which have delightful nicknames, I think.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Max[/name] or [name]Henry[/name]?
I don’t know if these have been mentioned already. I also am not the biggest fan of names that have I’ve just heard too many times over the years, but there are a few more traditional names that I appreciate:
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Edward[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Tomas[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Marcus[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] (but you don’t like that one)
Or what about slight variations or international variations of some of the ones he likes, like [name]Micah[/name] instead of [name]Michael[/name], etc.
javad, your list was really good for me - those are some of the “plain” names I like. I showed him all the names and we added [name]Simon[/name] to our list. I think it would make a good sibset with our favorite girl name - [name]Molly[/name].
There are going to be some repeats on this list, but all of the following names were popular during the twelfth to fourteenth centuries (so they’ve been around a long time). Many of them are still popular today. I think they meet your criteria perfectly.
