I’m currently transitioning and am searching for a middle name (which can be feminine or masculine) to go along with my chosen name, [name_m]Ronan[/name_m].
Here’s the catch: I want to honor my mother in the middle name spot, but her first name is often listed as a “stripper” name and is an adjective, which won’t work with my occupational surname. Her middle name is [name_f]Renee[/name_f], which I would be happy to use, if it weren’t preceded by [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. I’ve ruled out her birthstone.
So how could I honor a [name_f]Renee[/name_f] without repeating letters? Any names meaning “reborn” that aren’t Biblical? Or any other suggestions on how to honor a loved one?
My thought was [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], which I’ve read symbolizes rebirth.
Could you use a name starting with your mom’s first name?
Maybe your mom could choose your new middle name?
Maybe [name_u]Wren[/name_u] could work? It doesn’t repeat the letter R, technically.
Good luck! It’s sweet that you want to honor her!
I immediately thought of [name_f]Monet[/name_f] (pronounced mo-NAY) whose sound reminds me of [name_f]Renee[/name_f], and [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/[name_u]Rae[/name_u] (which could be too much like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], but I think it kind of works)
Could you honor her in some other way? Using her maiden name or her favorite flower or the month she was born in (let’s say she was born in [name_u]August[/name_u] you could use [name_u]August[/name_u], and if she was born in [name_f]October[/name_f] you could use [name_f]Opal[/name_f], the month’s gemstone)
Maybe you could do a name meaning new, like [name_f]Nova[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]/Anastasio/[name_f]Stasia[/name_f] which means resurrection? I like the idea of a name after the birth month or maiden name like previous posters said. You could also try asking your mother for names she likes herself and use that to honor her.
Thank you for all your suggestions! My mom said [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] would be the best way to honor her, as it’s a family name on her side and my maternal grandmother’s maiden name. my mother kept her name when she married and it sounds like a mean sentence when spelled, so this is the closest I could get.
