im looking for not tacky names inspired by travel. Travel is a huge part of my life and i love the idea of incorporating that passion into a future babies name. Only problem…i cant think of very many!
so far ive got
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Jett[/name_m]
[name_u]Ocean[/name_u] (Middle name maybe)
and then just a ton of place names. Is there anything obvious that im missing?
Most of my travel-inspired names are local favourites or regional homages.
I would love to use [name_f]Amparo[/name_f], as a nod to my living in the Valencian Community in Spain. It’s a common name in that area because of the patron saint of the Community, the Virgen de los Desamparados.
Many places have folklore, mythology, religion, regional preferences, and topogrphy you can look in to for inspiration. [name_m]Even[/name_m] slightly altering place names might make them more usable, or subtle.
One of the reasons I love [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] so much is because I lived in San Sebastián, and Donostia is much too blatant for me.
As far as general travel names, I think Viatrix means “traveller”, and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] could be related as a later form.
I think, since you love to travel, there’s probably a place near and dear to you, and that’s what I’d dig in to more deeply.
thank you! that was extremely helpful and has given me a few ideas. I’ve spent a lot of time in africa, so i think i will look at traditional Swahili names for possible middle names.
I think this is a great idea for a middle name. I’ve met people who have done this kind of thing and it was a great connection to a meaningful time in their lives.
