Hello, berries! I’m coming to you today with a bit of a naming dilemma. As spring rolls around I’m getting back into my funky and vibrant names, and I’ve been looking at my boys list and just thinking…it’s not fun enough! There’s something missing — a sparkly, mischievous, playful hole that is filled by my girls, but not by my little men.
My girl names feel magical, storybookish, wordy, and a bit natural — sun-warmed wood floors, the fluttering feeling when you spot a bunny in the garden, the joy of seeing two butterflies dance around each other, open books sprawled out across the living room rug, abandoned when they determine they decide they’d like some candy to go with their exploring and adventuring. My boy names? They’re cozy, warm, nice, and literary, but they lack fun and whimsy. They’re so endearing and classic, but they pale in comparison to the vibrance of my lassies. I want firefly-in-a-jar, paint handprints on clothes and walls, stick sword fights in the woods, muddy boots by the back door, big grins, flowers tucked behind an ear, cheeky and magical and colorful eclectic.
My current fun favorites for little women are as follows — Pleasance, Alcott, Beulah, Vision, Cavatica, Merit, Favor, Atticus, Enola, and Quimby, and when I lean into this style for boys, I favor Alcott, Basil, Bravery, Worthy, Cardinal, Cosmo, Fifer, Merit, March, Noble, and Earnest. I’ve many more of these spunky and spiky names for my lassies, but not many to bestow upon a little dude if he shall come!
If you have the time, I’d love to hear the names you’d suggest to me. I will look at any and all you think I might I’d like. Literary, inspired by virtues, vintage, nature-touched, wordy, full of character, whimsical, charming, packed with a cozy magic…names that make you smile or that have a little something extra.
Thank you so much in advance — I already know this is going to be such a delight to read through.
