What girls names do you hear the most often? Here and in “real life”?
I tend to hear [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] the most.

I tend to hear [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] the most.
I her [name_f]Lily[/name_f] a lot in irl. I love it so much!
Evie, [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. (every baby is called this right now)
Olivia a lot, even my own niece is named this
Olivia, [name_f]Maya[/name_f], (I live in a hippyish area) and [name_f]Emma[/name_f].
Everly! I feel like there’s more, but can’t remember what atm
I do hear that one a lot. I have three friends with daughters named [name_u]Everly[/name_u] or [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f].
I feel like this site is a different story, because: a. we’re all name nerds & think of more interesting names than the average [name_m]Joe[/name_m]. & b. we come from all different places in the world. That being said, on this site, I see a ton of:
Margot
Ophelia
Florence
Lilia (not even on the top 1000 in the U.S, though!
Maeve
Rose
Violet
I live in the midwest U.S, & in real life I hear a lot of:
Avery
Alice
Adelyn
Evelyn
Harper
Isla
Nora
I kind of hear a lot of [name_f]Margot[/name_f] too in real life, actually. But basically everyone is an [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f].
I’m in the [name_u]South[/name_u]-ish right now. There is a big difference between names I hear in my community vs. names that people I went to high school are using (since we’re all pretty young and they tend to go for more creative names, I will say that almost everyone who I went to hs with that is now having kids has had a boy)
[name_u]Collins[/name_u]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]/Emerson/Emily/Emmie
I know this is in the girls forum but I’ll put boys as well:
[name_m]Kayson[/name_m]
[name_m]Colton[/name_m]
[name_u]Levi[/name_u]
[name_u]Liam[/name_u]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]/Leo
Chloe & [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
I work with kids and hear a lot of these for girls;
Hadley
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]/Clara
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_u]Harley[/name_u]/Harlyn
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]/Charlie
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f](y)
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
Looking through my friends’ kids’ names, there are surprisingly few repeats. But the repeats I’ve seen are [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (and variants), [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_u]Oliver[/name_u], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], and [name_u]Collins[/name_u] (which I personally hate, so I was shocked to see it used more than once).
There are some trends I’ve also seen. Lots of Ev-, [name_f]El[/name_f]-, [name_m]Ad[/name_m]-, and [name_m]Al[/name_m]- beginnings to girl names. Also noticing -ly endings. Boy names seem more standard and old school than girl names. Some “fun” spellings, but less than we saw in the early 2000s.
Seeing a decent bit of last name as first name trend. Specifically some mothers using a version of their maiden names as their kid’s first name. We have a first name last name, so I’m avoiding that trend myself. Too likely to get people confused when reading the kids’ names in a class list.
Sophia/Sofia, [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
Emily, Annie, Olivia, Avery
Sophia, [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_u]Madison[/name_u]
That’s so interesting. I’ve never met a baby [name_f]Florence[/name_f].
I have 2 baby [name_f]Florence[/name_f]’s in my family alone
it’s super popular in the UK
I echo [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and would add…
Lily
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]/Isabelle etc
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
Also more recently [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
Ah ok. I live in the US. I see it on here all the time. But never in person. Besides [name_f]Flo[/name_f] from Progressive.
where i live theres lots of
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_u]Holly[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
