I’ve been having some issues with nicknames for my favorite names, especially with the ways the nicknames interact with each other for my prospective girls.
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
I love this name but I don’t like the nickname [name_f]Pia[/name_f] and I don’t know if people will jump right to [name_f]Oly[/name_f] (which I don’t mind as much). If I were to use [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] I would use it with the anambara igbo name Onaedo nn [name_f]Ona[/name_f] or the regular igbo name Olaedo nn [name_f]Ola[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] of them mean something like precious jewel. That is where my next issue comes in…
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
The only nicknames I find with this one are Stasi or [name_f]Ana[/name_f]. Of the two I like [name_f]Ana[/name_f] the best, I find it elegant and simple, but I can’t go around with [name_f]Ana[/name_f] and [name_f]Ona[/name_f]! I find that annoying and know many others will agree. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Ana[/name_f] and [name_f]Ola[/name_f] kind of irks me. What do you think? Any other nicknames for this name I love?
Bonus Question:
Any nice nicknames for [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] (this name is currently neck and neck with [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] although recent opinions have been pushing [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] ahead)
I think [name_f]Oly[/name_f] is very cute although I do not like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. And for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] how about [name_f]Stasia[/name_f]? Or maybe [name_f]Ann[/name_f] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f]?
Well, in the movie [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] the main character goes by the nickname “[name_f]Anya[/name_f]”. Would that work with “[name_f]Ona[/name_f]”?
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] could be [name_f]Lolly[/name_f] or maybe [name_f]Polly[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] could be [name_f]Ana[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_u]Stacy[/name_u], [name_f]Stasia[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Nastia[/name_f] (though it isn’t the best choice outside of Eastern Europe) [name_f]Asia[/name_f], [name_f]Tasia[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Lolly[/name_f] & [name_f]Anya[/name_f] would be cute childhood nicknames for sisters.
I know a girl named [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. We call her [name_f]Tasia[/name_f], [name_u]Tay[/name_u], Sia, Cici and occasionally [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. [name_f]Oly[/name_f] is a cute nn for [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and I think more people would think of that than they would [name_f]Pia[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], but I’m weird like that
I would call Athelie [name_f]Leah[/name_f] or [name_u]Lee[/name_u] possibly [name_f]Attie[/name_f] or [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
For [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - I love the above suggestaion of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and actually thought of [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] (before reading the [name_f]Pippi[/name_f] suggestion)
For [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] - My favorites are [name_f]Anya[/name_f] or Sia
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] - [name_u]Halle[/name_u] or even [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]? The name [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] seems to be coming back in style.
