Triplets due in a week, opinions on the names?

We are expecting all girl triplets in one week! All the preparation is pretty much done except the names! We have a rough draft of the names, but a few concerns, opinions?

We already have a boy, [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]

G [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] ([name_u]Jean[/name_u]?) [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (nn [name_f]El[/name_f]) - I like [name_u]Jean[/name_u], but he likes [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
G [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - We both love this, but no nickname we love
G [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] ([name_f]Claire[/name_f]?) [name_f]Louise[/name_f] ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f]) (nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f]) - I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], he loves [name_f]Millie[/name_f]

Is it ok that two have the same initial, even though we will call them names with different initials? Are [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], and [name_f]El[/name_f] too much L sound with [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]?

We were also considering but like the others better:
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] ([name_f]Ginny[/name_f])
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] ([name_f]Edie[/name_f])
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] ([name_f]Kate[/name_f])

We are fairly certain that these will be the last kids, so no more siblings.

You have chosen three beautiful names! I would keep them as they are.

I think it’s fine that 2 have the same initial for first name especially as you plan to call [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Millie[/name_f]. They are all lovely names and I think it’s a good group.

  1. I probably slightly prefer [name_f]Jane[/name_f] but [name_u]Jean[/name_u] works just as well and is more unexpected.
  2. Again, lovely name. I know a lovely young [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] who is [name_f]Biddy[/name_f] in the family. Also [name_f]Bridie[/name_f], [name_f]Bree[/name_f], Bid, [name_f]Brid[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_u]Brit[/name_u], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f].
  3. I like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] best from your combo options.

I also love [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], and any one of these would work well if you decide to swap one of the E names (or include Edith and have 3 E names!) Eleanor, Bridget and Imogen would be absolutely gorgeous for me, but, again, your 3 - Eleanor, Bridget and Emmeline are good and it’s about you loving them.

I vote for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] although both are pretty.
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] is so lovely! You can use [name_f]Bree[/name_f], [name_f]Bae[/name_f], Riri, [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f] as a short form of [name_f]Bridget[/name_f].
For the third girl I would go with [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
I don’t think it is a problem at all that two of the girls will share the same initial. Your combos are all so gorgeous and they match very well.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]/[name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]- I prefer the sound/flow of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]- love this name. You don’t need a nn ahead of time. One will likely develop organically. A couple options I see are [name_f]Bea[/name_f]/[name_f]Bee[/name_f] and [name_f]Birdie[/name_f].
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]/[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]- love the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f] for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] leads slightly better into [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], but [name_f]Claire[/name_f] sounds good too! I love both [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] though I probably lean toward [name_f]Louise[/name_f] since [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is already so long.

Is it ok that two have the same initial, even though we will call them names with different initials? Yes. It’s not like 3 kids are E’s and 1 is a one off initial. I think the nickname initials definitely make this a non-issue.

I think you have your girls’ names! Congrats!

You have chosen lovely names and since these are the names you like best, I would leave them as is. I know a [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Bridgie[/name_f].

I seem to be in the minority here but coming from a family of three sisters, I wouldn’t want having two sharing the same initial and one being left out. I remember my youngest sister and I wanting to do things by ourselves and excluding our other sister simply because our birthdays fall on even days and hers is on an odd day. Stupid, I know, but it’s too much for me, personally. That doesn’t have to stop you, though.

I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is not my favorite but it’s a nice name, and goes well with the other two.

Congratulations!!

[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] does feel a bit out of place here imo. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] sound close enough to be twins, [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] feels an outsider when it comes to triplets. She almost sounds like an older sister to the twins.

I love:

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Nora[/name_f])
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] ([name_f]Edie[/name_f]) [this combo I LOVE]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] ([name_f]Milly[/name_f])

[name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f] and [name_f]Milly[/name_f] sound lovely together (or [name_f]El[/name_f]). I’m just not sure [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_f]El[/name_f], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_f]Milly[/name_f] have the same feel. I do love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and it gives all girls different initials if you were to go for all E formals.

If you were to keep [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] I would suggest changing one of the other E names, maybe go for [name_f]Mildred[/name_f] or [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] as the formal? But then that’s just my preference.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_f]Millicent[/name_f].

[name_f]Bea[/name_f] is a lovely nickname for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f].

Thanks for the input. I love [name_f]Biddy[/name_f], [name_f]Bee[/name_f] and [name_u]Brit[/name_u] for [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], and agree that [name_f]Louise[/name_f] sounds better, and I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] for the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] connection (I hope I have [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] babies!!)

I love the names! I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]. [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] has a few nickname options – I love “[name_f]Bea[/name_f].”

I too would pick either [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and swap out the other. It’s beautiful but intense being part of a multiple and a big family (I know) so I’d take away that small but real possibility of [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] feeling left out. But also agree that nicknames could be the solution anyway, and it’s hard to guess what little kids will do to be (occasionally and usually for a short while) mean to each other. You have gorgeous names there!

As a twin and a mom to 10, I’d favor having distinct initials for your girls. It just makes things easier and helps them to feel like individuals. I’d be a little cautious about creating a pair that leaves the third one out, whether that’s initial E or nickname/no nickname. My oldest 3 siblings have middle names, and the younger 4 of us do not. I always felt weird about that as a kid, although it doesn’t bother me now. I think the names you’ve crafted are beautiful, and if the girls will always be called by the nicknames, then maybe their initials will be from nicknames, anyway. But if it was me, I’d switch out [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and find another [name_f]Millie[/name_f] name.

For example:

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] (or, [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], nn [name_f]Rose[/name_f])
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]

Or mix them around a little, so all the girls get an E name but still have distinct initials, plus you get an [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and your husband gets a [name_f]Millie[/name_f], everyone gets a nickname, there’s no odd-girl-out with the L-sound (everyone has an L!):

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

I love all three of your names, though I prefer [name_f]Jane[/name_f] to [name_u]Jean[/name_u] in the [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] combo and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] to [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] in the [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] Combo!

I am a [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] myself and I don’t think a nickname is necessary, especially as it is shorter than your other two names to begin with. If you’re really stuck on that however, I often get [name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_m]Bridge[/name_m], and [name_f]Bridgie[/name_f], and occasionally get [name_f]Bree[/name_f] and Beeje as well, just for some ideas.

All three are beautiful names! Personally I’d avoid repeating initials, but as you are using nicknames and you already have a child with a different initials I think it’s something that can easily be looked past.

I vote [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
