[name]Hi[/name], I’ve never posted here before, but thought you ladies might be able to help me. We are going to start ttc later in the year and I would like to have a name picked out early on like I did for my son, [name]Elliott[/name] [name]James[/name], but my husband and I are having trouble coming up with a girl’s name we love. We have a boy name picked out, [name]Ian[/name] [name]Charles[/name], and would like a girl’s name that has the same feel.
Our last name is a popular three syllable boys name that ends in -er, so I would like to avoid names ending with that sound. I feel like I’ve looked at every name there is and I just can’t find “the one.”
I guess I’m just looking for opinions on our list and suggestions. [name]TIA[/name]!
I love your list! [name]Clara[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], and [name]Ivy[/name] are all fabulous and go so well with [name]Elliott[/name] and [name]Ian[/name]. I think [name]Clara[/name] is probably my favorite, but I also love [name]Gwendolen[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name].
All of your names are lovely but you might want to consider taking [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] off of your list if you plan to have a third child and you are set on [name]Ian[/name] for a boy. [name]Ian[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] or [name]Ian[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] are so close that they seem a bit too matchy. I particularly like [name]Genevieve[/name]. It seems unique and special.
Thanks for the input! I actually haven’t thought of the [name]Ivy[/name]/[name]Iris[/name]/[name]Ian[/name] thing. I’m pretty sure we’ll be stopping at two, but you never know. [name]Guinevere[/name] is a name that I like and my husband loves, but I’m just not sure I can get passed the connotation I think it still has.
@ash, I really like a lot of the names on that list, especially [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name].
I also think [name]Ivy[/name]/[name]Iris[/name]/[name]Ian[/name] is too similar, and the same thing with [name]Eliza[/name]/[name]Elliott[/name]. From the rest I love [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name].

[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Flora[/name]
Your boy names of [name]Elliott[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Ian[/name] [name]Charles[/name] are classic, strong-yet-sensitive, English type names to me. So for a girl name I’d try to keep the same theme, and maybe even match the syllables with those (two or three-syllable first name and one-syllable middle name).
I like [name]Clara[/name] [name]Jane[/name] the best of your list. It’s great.
