Trying to choose between a few...

Hey there,
We are eagerly awaiting our new babe and are trying to choose between [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Asher[/name] or [name]Able[/name] for the first name…any suggestions?

Thanks for your time!

We have a 2 year old son named [name]Lev[/name] if that helps for the flow.

I like [name]Asher[/name] best! [name]Abel[/name] second. I would spell it that way, not [name]Able[/name], curious your thoughts as to why [name]Able[/name] not [name]Abel[/name]? [name]Atticus[/name] is handsome but I think it’s going to be a very “this baby was born in 2012” name and it’s stylistically much more different from [name]Lev[/name] than either [name]Asher[/name] or [name]Abel[/name]/[name]Able[/name] is.

[name]Just[/name] a misprint on my part. Ha. If I am considering [name]Abel[/name] I better start spelling it right! Thank you so much for your thoughts. I know that [name]Atticus[/name] is trendy right now. That is why we have other names on the back burner. Our first sons name is from one of my favourite books so the link to [name]Atticus[/name] is it is my husbands literary favourite.

OK, no worries about [name]Abel[/name] : D. I wonder if auto-correct will catch that a lot too. That is a nice tie in to [name]Lev[/name]. [name]Lev[/name] just felt Biblical to me because of [name]Levi[/name]. [name]Lev[/name] and [name]Atticus[/name] are closer if both literary, but still a short name and a long name. Trendiness alone shouldn’t sway you away, it’s one of the better trendy names to be sure, but I also feel like [name]Atticus[/name] has no solid nickname, which with a name that long kind of matters, or at least it would to me. However you are lucky in that, at least to my ear, [name]Asher[/name] [name]Atticus[/name] and [name]Abel[/name] [name]Atticus[/name] both flow pretty well. I know some people don’t like repeated initials but I think A is one of the better names for it.

I love [name]Asher[/name]! [name]Atticus[/name] is my second choice, I really love both, but [name]Asher[/name] is by far my favorite. I think [name]Lev[/name] and [name]Asher[/name] is perfect (but maybe too close to Biblical brothers [name]Levi[/name] and [name]Asher[/name]?), and [name]Lev[/name] and [name]Atticus[/name] would be pretty great, too. I love the nn [name]Gus[/name] for [name]Atticus[/name], if you’re looking for a nn. [name]Kit[/name], [name]Atti[/name], and [name]Ace[/name] are pretty cool, too…

Good luck!

I second [name]Ash[/name] on [name]Ace[/name] for [name]Atticus[/name].

I love [name]Lev[/name] and I love all three of the names you’re considering! [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Lev[/name] together would immediately make me think of [name]Chaim[/name] Potok’s My Name is [name]Asher[/name] [name]Lev[/name], so that’s something to be aware of. Other than that, I don’t think that you can go wrong with any of your choices. I might like [name]Abel[/name] best in this moment, but all three are great!

I personally like them in this order:

  1. [name]Asher[/name]
  2. [name]Atticus[/name]
  3. [name]Abel[/name]

But with [name]Lev[/name], I like them [name]Asher[/name], [name]Abel[/name], and [name]Atticus[/name].

I like [name]Abel[/name] the best with [name]Lev[/name]. [name]Asher[/name] would be my second choice. =]

[name]Abel[/name] and [name]Asher[/name] both sounds great with [name]Lev[/name]!

I was pleasantly surprised to hear someone call “[name]Asher[/name]” over the loudspeaker of a bookstore today. Definitely my favorite. Sounds so jolly.

I like [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Abel[/name], and [name]Atticus[/name] last.
