So Now that we are trying to conceive (K we have been for a while, but now there is an actual [name]CHANCE[/name] for conception to take place as I’ve got my hormones all straightened out!!) I have been thinking about names again.
[name]Cecily[/name] has been at the top of my list forever.
[name]Celeste[/name] is up there as well
[name]Kerensa[/name] i just saw on another posters board and thought was sweet.
[name]Aria[/name] is cute but i fear it’s getting too popular
[name]Penny[/name] is sweet too, but i worry it’s too simple. [name]Penelope[/name] doesn’t really do it for me.
[name]Loretta[/name] Not sure if it’s too much
[name]Nadine[/name] a long time love, but other people don’t seem to like it.
I would like to know your opinions on these names, ALSO I am looking for sweet, frilly but not TOO frilly names. I think some names are really pretty, like [name]Gwendolyn[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], but they sound like they are too much when i say them. I don’t want the name to be bigger then the person.
[name]Hi[/name]! Congratulations on this exciting time - baby dust!
I also love girly names but not overly frilly. Some to consider:
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name]
[name]Antoinette[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Elsie[/name]
[name]Bridget[/name]/[name]Bridgette[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name] - I don’t DISLIKE it but in either the C name category or the three-syllables ends in -y category it wouldn’t make my top five.
[name]Celeste[/name] - love! M
[name]Kerensa[/name] - Prefer the related [name]Carys[/name], but [name]Kerensa[/name] is nice as long as I don’t think “credenza?”
[name]Aria[/name] - over-popular, trendy, yuck.
[name]Penny[/name] - doesn’t stand alone to me.
[name]Loretta[/name] - [name]Loretta[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] is a fine singer but I don’t like her name.
[name]Nadine[/name] - Not a big fan and I like -ine names usually.
I actually would put in a supporting vote for [name]Penelope[/name] - it’s 4 syllables but its not very heavy. It keeps up well with other 4 syllable names that are popular/in-use - [name]Eliana[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name], none of which feel laughably long to me.
Other ideas:
[name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Celestia[/name], [name]Cassia[/name], [name]Calanthe[/name], [name]Coralie[/name],
[name]Jessamy[/name], [name]Verity[/name], [name]Amity[/name], [name]Ione[/name], [name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Kelilah[/name], [name]Kezia[/name], [name]Carys[/name], [name]Calandra[/name]
[name]Azalea[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Aviva[/name]
[name]Nina[/name], [name]Nerida[/name], [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Gwyneth[/name], [name]Gwyneira[/name], [name]Gemma[/name] - a little/lot simpler than [name]Gwendolen[/name], which I also like
[name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Petra[/name], [name]Paloma[/name] - Slightly simpler than [name]Penelope[/name].
[name]Giselle[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Viveca[/name] - [name]Genevieve[/name] has always felt to me most distinguished by its romantic v’s but there’s also the [name]Gen[/name]- which could suggest [name]Imogen[/name]?
[name]Cecily[/name]- I like it too, equal with my love to [name]Cecilia[/name].
[name]Celeste[/name]- like, but not my favourite.
[name]Kerensa[/name]- love it!
[name]Aria[/name]- I especially love the meaning and its musical connection.
[name]Penny[/name]- dislike, sorry.
[name]Loretta[/name]- dislike.
[name]Nadine[/name]- like it, but slightly prefer [name]Nadya[/name]/[name]Nadia[/name].
Suggestion:
[name]Ariadne[/name]- [name]Ari[/name] or [name]Aria[/name] can be the niickname.
[name]Celine[/name]
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Nadya[/name]
[name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
Not really a fan of [name]Loretta[/name] or [name]Nadine[/name], but I love the rest of the list. We definitely have a similar style.
[name]Kerensa[/name] is my favorite from your list. I think it has such a sweet meaning, has nickname options, is girly without being fussy.
Other thoughts (mainly from my list, haha):
[name]Ondine[/name]
[name]Elowen[/name]
[name]Althea[/name]
[name]Mireya[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]
[name]Callista[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Carys[/name]- I second this suggestion
RE: [name]Loretta[/name], I too really like this name, or I did until I met one my own age. She’s a perfectly lovely girl, don’t get me wrong, but she HATES her name with a passion and refuses to answer to it. She goes exclusively by her middle name, [name]Belle[/name]. After meeting her and hearing how much she hates her name and the difficulties she has in going by her middle, I just can’t consider it.
But if you love [name]Loretta[/name], maybe you’d also love [name]Lorena[/name] (lo-[name]RAIN[/name]-ah) or just [name]Lorraine[/name]. [name]Both[/name] of them have cute nickname options ([name]Lainey[/name]/[name]Reina[/name]/[name]Rainey[/name]/[name]Lora[/name]/[name]Lori[/name], etc.) and are a little more “fresh” in sound [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Cecily[/name] is pretty. I’m not a fan of [name]Celeste[/name] (knew a not-very-nice girl named [name]Celeste[/name] whose parents called her “Lesty”, ick), I think it has teasing potential. [name]Kerensa[/name] is also pretty and more unusual than your other choices. And I like [name]Penny[/name] by herself! With the popularity of the Big Bang [name]Theory[/name] I think you’d do fine with just [name]Penny[/name].
Instead of [name]Gwendolyn[/name], how about [name]Gwen[/name]? My sister’s nearly-life-long-friend is [name]Gwen[/name], and I think of her when I hear it. She’s a really lovely person. I like [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Celeste[/name] as well. [name]How[/name] about [name]Laura[/name] instead of [name]Loretta[/name]? Other ideas: [name]Clara[/name], [name]Julia[/name], [name]Carrie[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Ada[/name], [name]Dora[/name], [name]Sarah[/name] (nn [name]Sadie[/name]?), [name]Nora[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Kathleen[/name], [name]Geneva[/name], [name]Antonia[/name], [name]Regina[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Claudia[/name]?
Congratulations!
Well, first, I’m going to start with your list. [name]Penny[/name], [name]Nadine[/name], and [name]Cecily[/name] are my favorites. I like [name]Gwendolyn[/name], too, and if you wanted to do that [name]Gwen[/name] could be the nn! I like [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Nadine[/name] because it sounds really cute and has a nice ring. [name]Penny[/name] could just be the nn, and you wouldn’t really have to call her [name]Penelope[/name]! [name]Nadine[/name] [name]Cecily[/name] is also a great combination to me.
For the sweet, frilly names…[name]Charlotte[/name] is pretty sweet and frilly to me, with [name]Charlie[/name] as an nn. I love the name [name]Charlie[/name]- feminine or masculine! Here is a small list of some names you might like:
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Merida[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]- nn [name]Viv[/name] or [name]Vivie[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]- [name]Carol[/name] for an nn possibly?
I hope that helps. Good luck!
Hello there! From your list, [name]Celeste[/name] is the name I like the sound of most. While I don’t dislike [name]Aria[/name] or [name]Penny[/name], I can’t quite picture either as a FN. I once knew a lovely lady named [name]Nadine[/name]…the sound is not as soft as some others as it rolls off the tongue, so perhaps that is why some people don’t warm to it?
Of previous suggestions on this thread, I love the sound of [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Carys[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name] are all pretty as well.
Some other ideas: (not sure if some are too frilly for you!)
[name]Cecily[/name], outdated for me. [name]Celeste[/name], I love it. Elegant, light, poetic. My favorite.
[name]Kerensa[/name], strange. I’ve never heard it. I dislike the letter K.
[name]Aria[/name], nice.
[name]Penny[/name], too much for me.
[name]Loretta[/name], I dislike.
[name]Nadine[/name], outdated !
