Trying to find a baby name

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] and I am currently twenty nine weeks pregnant with a sweet baby girl. As the the title implies, my DH and I have pretty much looked at almost every single baby name website, books and what have you! Lol
Anyway, after many late night discussions we have settled
on these names which are [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. Despite our selections we are still unsure at which name works best with our last name(which is Acosta). What do you thinks works best? Any other suggestions would be welcomed so long as they belong to the classic names category or are an alternative to the names we have picked out. Thanks for reading and bye! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey [name_f]Melissa[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (that spelling) most out of your names. [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] Acosta personally don’t have a great flow because the -a ending and the A start, but its not too bad or noticeable so if you love those names then go for it. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is also very nice with your surname and a nice name in general but personally I prefer [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]!

Suggestions:
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nameberry and congratulations on your baby girl! I love your gorgeous classic style :two_hearts:

With your surname, I love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] in particular as they avoid repeating the A ending of your surname. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my preference of those — super classic, incredibly versatile, and it feels more timeless than [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] to me.

[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] also sounds wonderful with your surname, I think the repeated A—-a shape works well here because it’s such a classic. A fun but strong and timeless combo.

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is a great choice but just not my personal favourite. It also works well for you though.

[name_f]My[/name_f] two suggestions for you would be [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Both long, strong, feminine classics that don’t repeat too many sounds with the surname.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the reply! I really appreciate your suggestions. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom loves [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. Lol. It’s funny though
that my significant other originally wanted [name_f]Margarita[/name_f] for our
DD’s first name in honor of his late grandmother, but I put
my foot down because of the cocktail reference she might
encounter at school. I told him we might go with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] as
a MN when we eventually decide.

Oh love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! Unfortunately my hubby said a flat out
“no” because he hast extended family down in [name_f]Colombia[/name_f] who
visit the USA a lot and they would definitely not be able to pronounce that beautiful name without verbally butchering it.
Oh well, I still have a soft spot for it. Oddly enough, they do have a lot of women named [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] down there, so [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] wouldn’t be much of a problem. At least that’s what
my MIL. I really must compliment you on your user name for
[name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u]. It really reminds me of my late great aunt [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u]
[name_m]Stewart[/name_m] who died twelve years ago. Anyway, love your suggestions, they are truly inspiring!

Wow! I really never thought of those incredibly gorgeous
names you have suggested! [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f],
they are beautiful! I also appreciate and reciprocate your well wishes to me on our sweet little angel.
She just kicked me right now as I finished typing these lines! Lol. She’s growing faster than a flower on an early spring day.

Good suggestion! I have already written it down and
will see what my SO has to say about it. He is more
undecided on the small list.we have so the additional
suggestions for others might sway him.

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] Acosta sounds wonderful and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] is a lovely name!!

Thanks! Yeah my mom really adores that name
and my mom’s late sister was named [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], but
she went by [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] for short. [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], from what I have
read is a variation of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], so that’s why we
thought it would work well as a name for our dd. :baby:

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] gets my vote. It’s a beautiful, timeless name that sounds fantastic with Acosta. Whilst I prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my second pick on account of it flowing better with your surname. Have you considered any of the following?

[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

Thanks a million for that list! Oddly enough,
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] was one of my early choices but my
hubby “shot” it down. Same with lovely [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
which to me sounds breathtaking and drop dead
gorgeous. The others on your great list are ones
we have never really thought of. I’ll copy and past
them on a note to show my dh and see what he
thinks.

I love Elizabeth, and I think Isabel is also a great pick!! I’d go with one of these.

Or, if you like them, one of these:
Penelope
Felicity
Phoebe
Emmeline (emma-LINE, not emma-LYNN)
Harriet
Beatrice
Abigail

Your style is my style!!

I’d definitely vote for [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] with Acosta.

I like the [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] alliteration as well and I think it flows nicely. Not too sure if [name_u]Alex[/name_u] is used for short with your LN though.

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] also matches perfectly with it! It sounds simple but strong to me.

I think these two are the best with your LN!

The names you have picked out are gorgeous. They are rich in history , literature and have a regal [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. They are familiar internationally. I really love the sentiment behind Elizabeth/ [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] / [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] . I also love the Alliteration with [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is stunning too , and all these names comes versatile nickname options !!

I think my favourite is [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and Victoria!! And I love [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] in the middle name spot !

I really love [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] & [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with your surname my favourite definitely being [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] Acosta I think that would be really classic and elegant.

I wanted to put forward the suggestions of [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f].

Good luck

Omg! Lol! It is such a pleasant list you gave!
It is never too late to offer any suggestions.
Today my hubby and some of my male relatives
are already setting up the crib in our dd’s room.
During the break he and I are having a discussion on
what he thinks of the name suggestions and so far
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] are neck to neck as our likely
selection. He still, however, likes your list and will be
writing some of them by hand later today.

[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] was actually my so’s idea and
I like the strong impression that it offers. For
a nickname, we thought [name_u]Alix[/name_u] would be a nice
alternative since that was the casual moniker
that was used among family from my dad’s aunt
who were originally from [name_m]Denmark[/name_m]. :denmark:

Thank you so much for those kind words. Yeah
Elisabeth/Elizabeth has a strong resonance from
my side of the family. Luckily, my dh gets along
perfectly and understands my desire to include
them all in our daughter’s life. Thank you! :slightly_smiling_face::blush:
