Trying to get to Avie nickname...

[name]Hi[/name] guys…was wondering if naming our daughter due in [name]April[/name] [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] initials AV…nn [name]Avie[/name] is too much of a stretch as a nickname? I’ve always wanted a little [name]Avie[/name] and assumed I’d name her [name]Ava[/name] and call her [name]Avie[/name], but over the last 10 years in our area [name]Ava[/name] is out of control. My sons preschool class has 6 girls and 3 are [name]Ava[/name]'s…so it’s really popular in my area. I’m trying to avoid the nickname [name]Bella[/name]. The name [name]Aviana[/name] is too close to my daughters name [name]Elliana[/name] and its too close to my last name. I don’t really like any other Av starting name ([name]Avalon[/name], Avaley, Avaline etc…) We have close friends with a little [name]Eva[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name] so that’s out. Other names on my list were [name]Emiliana[/name] nn [name]Emme[/name] again really close to my daughters name. We tried on [name]Gianna[/name], [name]Ava[/name] [name]Marie[/name], [name]Lillia[/name] and they just don’t seem like a fit. I really want to just call her by [name]Arabella[/name] or [name]Avie[/name] was wondering if it seems too forced a nickname?

I think its fine(: also there is the name [name]Avia[/name] that would work As well

Oh I have [name]Aveline[/name] (prn ayv-leen) on my list! This would totally work for you. [name]Avie[/name] would be a cute nn for [name]Aveline[/name].

I think it works just fine. I mean, how do they get [name]Bob[/name] out of [name]Robert[/name]? And [name]Dick[/name] out of [name]Richard[/name]? I say go for it, it’s beautiful.

My initials are AV, and I’m sometimes called [name]Avie[/name]. I definitely think it’s fine.

I think it could work but it is a stretch. Have you considered [name]Avery[/name], [name]Averie[/name], or Avielle?

I like it a lot! I think it works just fine

I think it works just fine. I do, though, have a friend with a super cute daughter named Averlin, and they call her [name]Avie[/name]. [name]Just[/name] a thought.

[name]Aveline[/name] is the name of my niece (pronounced A vuh leen) and would give you that nickname pretty naturally.

I think it works

I think it works. I have a cousin whose initials are KC and we’ve always called him [name]Casey[/name]. Or you could name her [name]Avie[/name]. It’s cute all on its own.

Of course it works! And it’s a beautiful name, too!

More options:
[name]Ava[/name] (or a double name: [name]Ava[/name]-[name]Jane[/name], [name]Ava[/name]-[name]Claire[/name], [name]Ava[/name]-[name]Louise[/name])
[name]Aveline[/name]
Avelina
[name]Aviva[/name]
[name]Avis[/name]
Avila
[name]Aviana[/name]

[name]April[/name] in french is avril so yeah you could use [name]Avie[/name] as a nn for [name]April[/name] for sure!

It works, but I think [name]Aviana[/name] would be a good choice for you. It is similar to [name]Arabella[/name].

I think it totally works. I do like [name]Aviana[/name], but agree its too close to use with [name]Eliana[/name]. I’ve known a JJ a DJ and a CC and no one ever questioned if the nn’s were a stretch. I really like [name]Avie[/name] and I would definitely spell out the nn as it is more feminine than AV.

Thanks for the input…I really just don’t want anyone to question it when she gets to school or it to automatically default to [name]Bella[/name]. Otherwise I think it’s perfect. And [name]Aviana[/name] was on my list but I just got such negative feedback with it being too matchy with [name]Elliana[/name], and sounding like the Avian flu or [name]Evian[/name] water  anyone have any thoughts on Avabelle or Avabella? [name]Even[/name] though it’s just one letter off from [name]Arabella[/name] it seems a little made up. I’ve seen it on a few lists and whatever but they’re not listed as a name. It seems easier than starting over lol

Some other thoughts, but they are all over the map style-wise.

[name]Favianna[/name]
[name]Haven[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Mavis[/name]

Avabella does seem a bit much. [name]Avie[/name] is a super cute nickname though.

Avabella is cute. It might not have much history, since there are so many names created by using the “belle/bella” suffix ([name]Annabella[/name], [name]Christabella[/name], [name]Mirabella[/name], Dulcibella, [name]Clarabella[/name], Maybella) it ends up sounding quite familiar.

I’d still prefer [name]Arabella[/name] or [name]Ava[/name]-[name]Bella[/name].

I love the name [name]Avia[/name]

I don’t see why you couldn’t. I also really like [name]Aviana[/name], and [name]Aveline[/name].
We will likely use [name]Avi[/name] as a nn for [name]Lavender[/name].
