We are ttc baby #4 and girl names are up for discussion.
Ideally we would be able to use another name with a double letter.
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] ticks all the boxes and should mesh with our style, yet we don’t love it.
So for those of you that do love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], what is the appeal?
We hope to fall in love with her as well.
I really like [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I think it’s very timeless. I can picture an old movie starlette with this name, and a spunky young girl. Its veery versatile. I also love the meanings.
However I’m not a huge fan of it with your other daughters names (which I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] them)! From your signature I think [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] sounds better
I’m with you; something keeps me from loving [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Stella[/name_f]? She’d fit with your sibset slightly better.
I think my block with [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] stems from my DH; when I suggested it for our first, and second, he’d make fun of it by saying it in a scary, whispering voice. I don’t know why.
I like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] better for your sibset, as well. [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] isn’t as pretty to me as your other girls’ names. And they are gorgeous, btw!
There’s a whole plethora of names out there, why try to force yourself to like one? It’s likely not the name, so I would suggest that you keep looking. =]
[name_f]EDIT[/name_f]: Omg, it makes me think of [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] from Friends. That’s probably why I don’t think of it as pretty!
It has this timeless, beautiful appeal! It’s elegant and it’s meaning, ‘star’ makes it that much sweater!
What I love about [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is that it is elegant & beautiful but in a simple, streamlined, non frilly way. I like [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]'s timeless beauty and the fact that it is not super popular or trendy. I personally love it as a middle name and it is not a top first name for me at the moment. I think what holds me back is that it is so elegant sounding and somewhat formal (it also is not a good fit at all with my son’s name). I would want a nn option that I like at least almost as much as [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and I don’t like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. I also really love [name_f]Estella[/name_f] but, again, not [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. If you really like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is perfection in my opinion. A name I absolutely love with double letters is [name_f]Camille[/name_f], potential nn [name_f]Calla[/name_f] or [name_f]Callie[/name_f]. I also really like [name_f]Camilla[/name_f].
I do love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. To me it is just a sparkling star of a name. I guess I think of Great Expectations (I know it’s [name_f]Estella[/name_f], but still) and I like that [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is more unique than [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. I like the potential for [name_f]Estee[/name_f] as the nickname.
I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]! It’s just beautiful, ethereal & glamorous. But, in case you decide not to go with it, here’s some of the double-letter names off my own list:
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Annette[/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. I think it’s elegant and sophisticated and timeless. But I’m with you in not LOVING it. You probably don’t need help in finding double letter names, but I like the idea of distinct double letters for each, since you’ve managed that thus far.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] work. [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]?
Going against that I just thought of Annora as being really sweet with your sibset.
I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] because of the meaning {star}, associations, and the type of person I imagine when I hear this name. I also love the nickname “[name_f]Elle[/name_f]” which is a plus for me. When I hear [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] it makes me think of royalty, it particularly makes me think of the princess [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] of [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] {[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] [name_f]Ewa[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]}, she’s adorable! Overall, I picture a dainty little girl or young woman with blonde hair/light brown hair. I used to work in retail and met an adult [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. The name worked very well on her and was very refreshing when said outloud. Overall, I think this is a smart and lovely choice.
I know you asked for people who love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] to contribute to this, and while I don’t, I have some advice.
Obviously, you are very keen to love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], but I wouldn’t force yourself to like a name of the attraction just isn’t there. There is nothing worse than picking a name now and then regretting it years later when it is too late to change it.
Perhaps you could try [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]'s cousin? Or [name_f]Estrella[/name_f] is a cool international variant. Maybe you could even go with [name_f]Star[/name_f]. Keep looking, and if you can’t find anything else, go with [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] - after all, it does tick all the boxes
Hopefully this helps without seeming rude.
I love [name_f]Estella[/name_f], heavily influenced by reading Great Expectations.
I absolutely love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]! It’s very classy and elegant.
