I just love [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] for our little girl due any time now! I like unique, simple names that are not too out there. I worry will people be thinking, “what a different, pretty name!” Or “wow, her parents were trying way too hard to be different when they named her!”. Please, what are your honest opinions? I’m in serious panick mode and just want to give our girl the best name possible <3
Thanks!
I think you could honestly get both, but it I heard the name I would just assume that the parents liked less traditional names. I tend to think “wow, her parents were trying way too hard to be different when they named her!” only when the name is severely misspelled (not an acceptable alteration, but something like Destynnee for [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]). I think it’s a beautiful and refreshing name
Ditto to what @trippindippy said re misspelled names… I think [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is a lovely name! It is different in a pleasant, unexpected way which is a good thing, not different in a weird or bad way.
I have to agree with previous posters. I think it’s a lovely name, and it’s great that you found something you love! It’s uncommon, but it’s not trying too hard. I typically think names are trying too hard when parents insist on their own unique spelling or when crossing gender lines beyond unisex names. (Like recent celebrities naming their daughters [name_m]Miles[/name_m] or [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u].)
I think it’s lovely and i wouldn’t get the impression you were trying too hard, just that you pick awesome names!
I love it! Gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS!
My mother always says the names I like are “trying too hard”. I love them and that’s all that matters.
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is lovely! Go for it. I don’t think it seems like you are trying to hard at all.
I love [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]! When I first thought of [name_f]Lark[/name_f], I thought it was utterly perfect, although a bit out-there, maybe. But the more I think of it, the more I love it, and I think it’s a darling name for a little girl! If there are girls out there named [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u], and boys named [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] and [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], why not [name_f]Lark[/name_f] for a girl? I adore it. I think I also became more open to it once I heard that the Danish alternative, Lærke (LAIR-keh), is quite well-used there. I think [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is perfection!
Good luck!
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] has really been growing on me lately! I’ve always found [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] to be a lovely name as well. [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] flows nice, personally I think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] may flow a bit nicer, and while [name_f]Lark[/name_f] isn’t commonly used I don’t think that it seems like it’s trying too hard to be different. It’s not totally out there or looks “creatively spelled”, it’s just less common
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is truly lovely, it sounds great and evokes a beautiful image. It doesn’t seem trying too hard to me.
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is absolutely gorgeous! I’m not generally one for really “out there” names, and would normally consider [name_f]Lark[/name_f] a guilty pleasure. So, I kind of think like the general public would. If I met a little girl named [name_f]Lark[/name_f], I’d probably just assume her parents were really into nature. I definitely wouldn’t think they were “trying too hard.”
I think it’s lovely. I know the feeling of feeling self-conscious of coming across as ‘trying too hard’… but I think you just have to be confident in what you love and go for it. (as long as you’re confident it won’t turn out to be a passing crush that maybe should have been relegated to your ‘guilty pleasure’ list.) [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is not too out there though, I think you’re fine.
I don’t think it’s trying too hard at all. Very lovely.
In comparison to my personal taste, yes I think it’s a little out there. But I wouldn’t think you were trying too hard, just that you have more whimsical taste. And [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is simple enough that it balances [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]'s more eccentric qualities, and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] isn’t totally unheard of.
I have to say I love the name [name_f]Lark[/name_f], and [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is a lovely combo.
As other berries have mentioned this doesn’t scream they were trying too hard to be different to me. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] the names that are trying too hard to be unique are creatively spelled names.
