I’ve taken it upon myself to be in charge of updating the first post of the thread to include everyone’s TTC date! I know some people have been trying for awhile and some are just starting, but all are welcome for support and discussion.

I’m hoping to be in here, though it will be late 2014 for us. We meant to start this year, put it off for 2015, and it looks like we’ll be set for fall 2014. We want to get a house, but aren’t finding anything we love. We’re also getting some trips out of the way. [name_m]Hawaii[/name_m] in [name_u]January[/name_u], the Yukon in [name_f]July[/name_f]. Maybe marriage, depending on the whole insurance thing. SO has some pretty good insurance and I have none. Lots to do, but it’s all manageable. And if we don’t find a house, well, babies don’t need much room at first I guess.
My DH and I will be starting next summer. The plan right now is to start in [name_f]July[/name_f], but we shall see. I’m pretty excited to start too I could start now, but I’m still in grad school until [name_f]May[/name_f]. I won’t start a full time job with medical insurance until late summer.
To prepare, I plan to talk to my OBGYN at my annual check-up in a few months. I will ask her what sorts of things I should do to prepare and if there is anything I can do to increase our chances. And I’ll also start taking some vitamins a few months before. I could probably start taking vitamins now though.
My hubby and I are starting our first FET (frozen embryo transfer) in [name_u]January[/name_u] but will start the whole process in [name_u]December[/name_u] this year. We just went to our IVF doctor for an info visit this past thursday and we were told that both our embryos are frozen in the same tube so we will be transferring them both and now have a 50-60% chance for twins with this next cycle. My hubby about passed out but I am secretly hoping they both take!!! I would love to have three children and always have wanted that many my whole life so it would be a true blessing as this will most likely be our last attempt at IVF as we are out of embryos and can’t afford another fresh cycle. I just had my son in Feb. that was from the fresh embryo transfer and we put two embryos in that time and got one baby but we only had a 30% chance of twins then so I am ultra excited!!! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] all goes well and according to plan!!
Lduff - Yay! I hope you get twins - that would be so lovely!
redwoodfey- true! babies don’t need much space at all. we are still living in our small apartment for now,so I definitely feel you on wanting to buy a house, but I am hoping that will sort itself out if I can get a better job after I graduate in [name_u]August[/name_u] and hopefully have our first shortly after.)
Anyone else anxiously awaiting TTC right now?
I got poked an prodded at the doctor today - she ordered a ton of tests for me to make sure I am healthy. He main advice was to start taking prenatal vitamins about a month before I go off birth control and once I go off birth control to take the same precautions as if I actually were pregnant (so if I go to the dentist and they want to do x-rays, say “I could be pregnant”, etc…), avoiding sushi and beer (so I am making my enjoyment of those two things count!!!), etc.
So, I am just waiting to make sure everything checks out, and then I’ll be able to make an appointment to get my IUD out in [name_u]December[/name_u]. What a nice holiday gift!
Is anybody planning on getting genetic testing done?
We haven’t set a starting point yet, but are thinking about summer or fall of 2014. There are just so many concerns-- do we have enough money in savings? [name_m]Will[/name_m] we be able to buy a house? Etc… Still, I’m excited/terrified about it! Can you tell I’m a worrier? I have my yearly exam next week, so I’m going to talk to the doc about it then. I’ve also been making an effort to improve my diet/fitness so my body will be as ready as possible!
We are planning to start TTC in [name_f]April[/name_f] 2014! Right now I am getting extremely impatient because the ONLY reason we are waiting is so I don’t have to be super prego during the summer! I can’t stand the heat as it is, and I am pretty miserable during [name_f]July[/name_f]/[name_u]August[/name_u] at my current size, so I can’t imagine harboring a little furnace inside me!
Hello,
I was on the other ttc thread but sort of drifted off towards the end of the year. I have been ttc since [name_u]March[/name_u] of 2012 and it has been long and emotionally painful journey. Which is what why I ended up taking a break from the other thread. Plus, I had nothing new to be adding my story was the same month after month.
I plan on getting really involved again with the ttc journey come [name_u]Jan[/name_u] 2014. We are currently saving up for an IUI sometime in the springish time frame. Until then, we are praying hard a natural conception, and looking into the idea of adoption. I still may be a lil absent until [name_u]January[/name_u] just to give myself time to breath and work through my own emotions, but I look forward to getting to know you all very soon!!!
Hopefully will be able to start trying sometime in [name_f]Spring[/name_f] 2014. Am getting everything checked out and cycle regulated. I’m 41 with PCOS.
Working on losing some more weight to remove that added risk factor. Am probably going medicated IUI. [name_m]Just[/name_m] need to get everything working correctly.
Quit smoking in early 2013 and am now starting Metformin for the PCOS. Having an ultrasound on [name_f]Monday[/name_f] for ovary/uterine health check, since PCOS has been untreated.
I’ve got a late start, but the lightbulb finally turned on when I thought about it as “What will I regret not doing over anything else?” and that answer was a resounding “being someone’s mom”
Good luck to all. Looking forward to lots of happy, healthy pregnancies in our future.
Our plan is to start ttc our third when my daughter turns two in [name_u]June[/name_u]. I’m really excited but trying to wait patiently and enjoy having just two kids right now. This will probably be our last child.
We’ve decided to wait until February or [name_u]March[/name_u] 2014 to ttc. That way, there will be at least a year and a half between our precious little [name_m]Franco[/name_m] and his sibling. We want them close enough to be able to spend time together in their interests if they want to. When I think of how our list started out and all the changes that we made it astounds me! Our taste in names have even evolved since we began searching and learning on Nameberry. I’m very excited to get an early start on my boy and girl lists to find the perfect name for [name_m]Franco[/name_m]'s little sibling!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! My husband and I have been trying for a few years. There has been some heartbreak and it is taking so long, but I think we are finally on the road to figuring things out… I have had a HSG again and my doctor scheduled a pelvic ultrasound in [name_u]December[/name_u]. I’m guessing there is a blockage or something… My gynecologist has suggested IVF so that may be something we do in 2014. Hopefully we will have our baby by the end of the year!
I realized that I didn’t fully answer the question. To prepare for another baby I need to wean my daughter and four to six months later have a mammogram done for a baseline since I have a family history of breast cancer. I’m really not looking forward to weaning her so when I finally do might come into play with how long we wait to ttc.
~~~* I’m SO happy someone started a 2014 thread! I have an internal dilemma about this!! :-/
I have an appt in early Dec with a new doc (hated my previous one, can’t wait to switch!). After talking to her, I plan on going off my birth control pills sometime after the first of the year. It will be our first, and we are so excited to start ttc!
Life of course though, can interfere. I am graduating from nursing school in 5 weeks (YAY!) and will probably be starting a new rn job in early [name_u]January[/name_u]. The only thing stressing me out is starting a new job and ttc. I would love to start ttc asap, but I don’t want to get hired and start a new job, then announce a few months later I’m pregnant. I don’t want to leave a bad taste in anyone’s mouth…But I also don’t want a new job to get in the way of the truly important things in life! So it is stressing me out trying to decide what should take top priority come [name_u]January[/name_u]; baby making or a new job…Ugh.
Has anyone out there started a new job while being pregnant or ttc? Any thoughts or advice?
But that being said, we will be ttc at some point in 2014, just a matter of when!!!
@asche926 Yes. I am currently on the ttc 2013 thread, DH and I started last month I am currently in the middle of my 2nd cycle ttc. Hopefully I won’t have to join ttc 2014, but I understand and won’t be too disappointed if I have to start the year trying.
That being said, I am 4 weeks away from finishing my Master’s degree and will be starting a completely new career soon after (hopefully, fingers crossed). I understand your trepidation with starting a new career and ttc but ultimately you have to decide what is most important but also how you will afford and provide for the child. I also think it depends on your age and current desires. If you are 20-25 you have plenty of time and don’t need to worry about ttc too quickly, and should enjoy young adulthood. If you are around 30 or older and don’t want to wait too long to ttc it’s different.
I too worried about waiting longer to ttc but starting a family is much too important to me at this stage in my life. Especially since I know that DH and I are in a good place financially that when baby comes along we will be in a good place and happy. [name_f]Do[/name_f] what feels best but also works for you logically.
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f], everyone! I’m glad someone found this again - I thought it had been lost and forgotten. We are on track so far for starting after [name_u]Yule[/name_u] this year, so I am excited, but at the same time I we’re not in a huge rush (well, I am but I am trying not to stress myself out).
I just added everyone’s timeline to the first post! I’ve been taking my prenatal vitamins for a month and a half now and I can’t believe how quickly my nails are growing! (is that normal?). I also feel like I need to go take a crash course in TTC acronyms!
I’ve lost a little weight and I’ve been keeping very active and trucking along through the final stretch of graduate school.
Not sure if I will belong on this thread but like a few others I’m hoping to have a child by mid/late 2015, so pregnant as early as the end of next year. I’m 28 and the bf is in his mid thirties. Right now we’re not where I want to be financially and geographically, but changing both is hopefully possible soon!
I’m currently on the Depo shot but have started to take the once a day prenatal, since I have read it’s good for women of child bearing age to take. I don’t plan on the shot ‘failing’ but if it were, or if we decide I’ll go off it, I want to have myself covered there with prenatals. Maybe it’s a waste of time/money this far in advance, but oh well. I also plan to talk with my gyno about ttc etc during my annual exam in [name_f]May[/name_f].
Good luck to all
I think I’m going to go ahead and join this club! I am still in the midst of home renovations (it will be a year in Dec that we moved in!) and we keep saying that as soon as we’re done sanding & staining we will start trying. I’m hoping that’s early 2014.
I’ve become more into healthy lifestyle/clean eating since becoming a mom to a little girl with allergy issues. I think my next pregnancy will be a healthier than the pregnancy w my daughter when it comes to diet & exercise!
I just weened my daughter about a month ago & that was a big goal for me before we start trying for our second child. I think I need a few more months of feeling like my body is my own and than I will be ready. I really feel like the nursing period is a 4th trimester even though I did it for 1.5 yrs!
With my daughter we became pregnant almost immediately. I hope for the same luck this time & wish it for all of you as well!
Had a talk with hubs last night and it looks like we’ve got a more targeted date range for TTC. We’re thinking we will go off bc in [name_f]May[/name_f] and hope for a [name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_f]September[/name_f] pregnancy…but if it happens sooner, then that’ll be just fine!
Somehow setting a date for going off the pill makes it more real
