Ttc 2017

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Who all is hoping to conceive in 2017?

My hubby and I have been going back and forth about if we will even have a third for a while, even leaning toward no until recently. Suddenly we’ve both had a bit of an attitude shift and we’re going to go for it this time next year. That way there will be about a three and a half year difference between the two youngest which I feel like is ideal. Three is our limit, so this will be the last.

A year sounds like a long time, but lately with a full time job and two kids each month feels like about a week, so I know it will fly by!

raises hand If I lose enough weight by [name_f]February[/name_f] then I can start trying to conceive. I’m so excited and worried at the same time. My baby fever is running high over here. It feels so far away, but I look at the calender and it’s really not.

I can’t believe this time next year I might actually be on the way to being a mom.

@ikfly, I would be a little freaked out right now if the plan was for [name_f]February[/name_f], that’s coming right up! I need to lose some weight too. I haven’t done much in the way of rearranging my eating habits yet, but I really need to. I can exercise everyday, but cutting down on sugar has been hard.

My husband and I decided to start TTC in [name_u]January[/name_u]. I am on birth control pills, so I would stop taking those in [name_u]January[/name_u] and then see what happens. We would have started sooner, but I plan to go back to Mexico next [name_u]July[/name_u] like I did this year. It was kind of difficult travelling on my own with a two year old, and it would be even harder with a three year old and newborn. I would rather travel pregnant than with a newborn baby. Plus, the homeland security people will probably think I am stealing our newborn away from the father lol.

Hubby and I finally came up with a plan, we’ll start TTC in [name_u]January[/name_u] 2017. It’ll be our first child and I am so excited. I need to lose as much weight as I can before then, but it’s nice to finally have a date. I’ve been obsessed with baby names my whole life and now I get to finally choose some!

I’m ttc in 2017! Me and DF getting married at the end of [name_f]April[/name_f] and we’re going to start ttc in [name_u]January[/name_u]. We’re super excited! I already got my folic acid prescription I’m starting in [name_f]September[/name_f] lol We’re both 23 but we’re ready, we’ve been together for over 5 years now

DH and I plan to start ttc our first in [name_u]January[/name_u] as well. There’s the slight possibility we could start trying as early as [name_u]November[/name_u], but it will most likely be [name_u]January[/name_u].

We’re in our mid-twenties and lots of our friends are starting to try around the same time, so it should be exciting!

Congratulations on the wedding! I was 23 when I got married last year too.

Congrats to all of you recently / soon to be married and getting ready to try for your first. I’m a little jealous of everyone trying so early next year, I’m the main breadwinner and want my due date not to fall on the busiest time of year. Plus I want at least one of my babies not born in the winter. The earliest I can push it forward is [name_u]June[/name_u] 2017. I am 25, have two sons and been married for six years, so I guess I started a lot earlier than everyone else on here so far!

Nice! You’re so lucky, I’m worried no one will be ttc when I am. I need a preggo buddy!

@jenni_lynn91 Thank you! Congrats to you too!

@lovewn Thanks!

That’s okay, I know a lot of moms that had their first kids around 19-21. If it weren’t for our financial situation we would have had ours sooner as well. My mom even had me when she was 17 and married my dad, then had my brother and sister so by the time she was 22 she had 3 kids. And the pros are you have more energy and when you’re in your 40s you can enjoy it without worrying about finding a babysitter! Haha

Anybody have a gender preference? My DF wants twins, 1 girl and 1 boy… I’m like no way!! I’ll be too sick and huge Lmao. I think it would be nice to have a girl first. My mom has cancer so I don’t know how much longer she’ll be around, and I think it’d be very bonding for us three girls.

@theresa , yes I definitely hope for a girl this time! It’s funny though because I mostly despair about what we would name another son. I was happy to have a son first. For some reason I was expecting it like “Well the first born is supposed to be a boy.”, I had even planned his name for years. I was really thinking # 2 would be a girl and it was so hard to name him. I’m sorry about your mom. You will bond over a new baby no matter the gender.

@theresa, so sorry to hear about your mom. Sending lots of good vibes your way. Ideally I’d like to have a girl, but DH is adamant in his desire for only boys so one of us is bound to be disappointed haha

@theresa, I’m sorry your mom is sick. She will love spending time with her grandchild either way. Is it her first grandchild?

I would like another girl since I have all of [name_f]Noemi[/name_f]'s clothes stored in my basement, and not much for boy clothes. My husband wants a boy. Either way, I want to use a form of the name [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] for the next baby for my grandpa who is sick. Either [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] for a boy (middle name) or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]/[name_f]Josefina[/name_f] for a girl.

Yay! We’ve moved it up to Feb.! After speaking to me husband it turns out that he doesn’t actually care. I thought it out a bit more, and with maternity leave a [name_u]March[/name_u] / [name_f]April[/name_f] birthdate would leave me gone during the busiest time at work ([name_f]May[/name_f] / [name_u]June[/name_u]). And the things I wanted to get done before I got pregnant ( buy a newer car, getting my youngest out of my bed at night) can be done while I’m pregnant but before the baby is born.

In the mean time I’ll be getting a new dentist, saving money and working on my diet. I’m not sure what else to do to prepare, what is everyone else doing?

We’re not doing a whole lot to prepare before TTC. I have an old back injury (nearly fractured my spine playing sports in HS) where the recommended treatment plan is basically don’t gain weight and don’t work out too much, so I’m going to my orthopedic surgeon to ensure I’m not going to be bedridden if we do get pregnant. I’m trying to work out some more and healthily gain some weight so that hopefully TTC is a little easier. That’s pretty much it other than possibly start looking for a new car as the coupe isn’t really family friendly, but we likely won’t pull the trigger there until we’re actually pregnant.

The only thing I am really doing to prepare is getting my 2 year old potty trained. I don’t want to have 2 kids in diapers. She is doing pretty well actually. And she is really good at putting diapers on baby dolls and stuffed animals (and a live chihuahua), so she might be able to help change her brother or sister. When I actually am pregnant, I will have to talk to her about getting a baby brother or sister.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone, I’d love to join in the 2017 fun here. I have already been trying to conceive my first for a while, but our plans look like they have been spoiled for the rest of this year. I have irregular cycles with no cause or reason since I came off the contraceptive pill 2 years ago. I don’t have PCOS or anything similar so the doctor said it’s all just a waiting game for me.
I’m just trying to keep myself sane and I hope to hear lots of positive TTC stories from you all in the next year or so.

@theresa , yes I definitely hope for a girl this time! It’s funny though because I mostly despair about what we would name another son. I was happy to have a son first. For some reason I was expecting it like “Well the first born is supposed to be a boy.”, I had even planned his name for years. @lovewn: I would be hoping to have a girl too if I were you as well! It’s so fun to dress them up Hehe & Thank you <3 My mom’s doing good right now actually, I’m really surprised. Her blood tumour markers have gone down every blood test so far for 2 months, so that’s a great indicator that the tumours are shrinking. Also, for the first time in her life she has normal iron levels as of two weeks ago. She was very anemic for all of her life before that, and chemo is supposed to make you more anemic if anything. It’s a very common problem for her type of cancer. She’s been eating a lot less meat lately and drinking lemon grass tea so I think it’s helping  I know it’s cliche, but to everyone reading this, hold your loved ones tight, and always be quick to forgive because you never know what life will throw your way.

In the mean time I’ll be getting a new dentist, saving money and working on my diet. I’m not sure what else to do to prepare, what is everyone else doing?

I’m going to start taking folic acid supplements at the beginning of September. My doctor recommended to start 3 months before ttc. I’m pretty lucky cause my fiance has full dental and medical benefits so I’ll have that once I’m married, and we’re Canadian so I have free health care. We’re saving money. I eat a healthy vegan diet and I’ve maintained my proper BMI since I reached it 4 months ago. I’ve started exercising more to be healthier for pregnancy. We’re going to buy a new car soon since the one we have is falling apart. Haha

@theresa, I’m sorry your mom is sick. She will love spending time with her grandchild either way. Is it her first grandchild?

@jenni_lynn91: Yes, it’ll be her first grandchild and also the first great-grandchild for my grandparents and my fiance’s angel grandparents  I love Josefina btw! So classy <3

Funny story to share: When my fiance and I set our date for our wedding last month for the end of April, his mom told us she thinks I’m pregnant and that’s why we set the date. She still thinks I might be! She told us we better tell them early in the pregnancy if I am and not try to hide it. I told her, Woah, I just altered my wedding dress - I’m not pregnant! Haha I said we’re getting married in 9 months, and not to mention my stomach is flat! :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone else’s family or friends thinking you’re ttc or pregnant right now and hiding it?

Me! My stomach is not as flat as it used to be before I had [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] and I’m not really watching what I eat or anything. So when I wear certain clothes, people ask me if I’m pregnant. The whole time I was in Mexico this past [name_u]July[/name_u], my husband’s family was asking I was pregnant. I guess they have a saying down there that if a child holds their hands behind their back, its because someone is pregnant. So any time [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] or her cousin had their hands behind their back, my sisters in law were trying to figure out which one of us was pregnant lol.

Here in the US, most women only get 6 weeks maternity leave. Since my job has no benefits, I will not get paid those 6 weeks. I don’t even get sick days.

I’ve already introduced myself in the TTC 2016 thread, but I wanted to pop in here and say hi to everyone as well. We have already started tentatively TTC, but I imagine it will take us several months or more to get pregnant because my periods are extremely irregular. Our original plan was to start trying in [name_u]January[/name_u], but I guess we’re getting an early start. Our little one will be the first grandchild for my husband’s parents, and the first grandchild in over 5 years for my mother, I think everyone is ready for there to be another baby in the family!
