DH and I are TTC in the next few months and we’d like to try for a girl this time. We already have a son (2 years) and we’d be thrilled for him to have a brother, but figured we may as well “try” for a girl. Has anyone had any success in doing this? We’re considering trying the Shettles method (BD before ovulation occurs) but probably wouldn’t go all out with diet, ovulation kits, etc. [name]Just[/name] curious if anyone has had any success? Thanks!
If you plan on using Shettles method I think OPKs are a great option. You can buy a huge lot of them for cheap on Amazon. This way as you are tracking your cycles, have sex every other day then when you get a +OPK you know you will ovulate in the next 24-36hrs so do not have sex during that time. Since the “girl” sperm live longer, they’ll have a better chance meeting with your egg. You can also temp to confirm when you ovulated.
I would suggest using OPKs and NFP. To increase your chances of conceiving a girl you should have sex 2-3 days before you ovulate so the only way you’ll know this is by charting (using NFP) so you know when to start and then the OPK to know when to stop (basically when it says your egg dropped). This is because the girls live longer than the boys.
My ovulation is pretty obvious with cervical changes. I wasn’t familiar with that method when I got preg with my girls, so im no help there. But I used it for my son. I wasn’t specifically trying for a boy, but more like hmm wonder if itll be a boy! And sure enough! So when we start trying for#4 I’m going to specifically “try” to see if it works again. I just haven’t made up my mind which one id like more yet haha. hope it works out for ya!
