TTC and we cannot agree on names!

My husband and I are so similar in so many ways, but when it comes to choosing baby names, we’re complete opposites! [name]Every[/name] name I suggest, he thinks of a reason why we can’t use it… “rhymes with _____”, “sounds like _____”, “they’ll call him ______”… etc, etc.

For girls I love classics like: [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Clara[/name], and [name]Ivy[/name]
For boys I love: [name]James[/name], [name]Callum[/name], [name]Asher[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Nolan[/name]

The ONLY names HE likes are…

for girls: [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Haley[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Camryn[/name] and [name]Mya[/name] (none are really “my style”)

for boys: [name]Easton[/name] (which is growing on me and might be a compromise), [name]Chase[/name], [name]Nolan[/name] (which I don’t dislike), [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Braydon[/name] and [name]Hunter[/name].

I’m sure you can see where we’re clashing!

We need your suggestions!!! Please help!

just realized I posted in the “girls” thread! sorry!

It seems that your husband likes much trendier names and spellings, but you do have a little common ground. Since he likes [name]Hannah[/name], it’s possible he may be open to some other classic names.

Also, [name]Hannah[/name] to [name]Annabel[/name] is not much of a stretch, and [name]Annabel[/name] is in the same grouping as the more feminine, vintage names that you like. Not sure if you like that name, but you get the picture. You can take certain letter groupings or sounds that one of you is drawn to and find a stylistic middle ground. E.g. [name]Camryn[/name]–> [name]Camille[/name] or [name]Camilla[/name].

Another idea is to choose a classic name and use a trendier nickname.

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

Thanks amyb2

I like [name]Annabel[/name] but we have a niece with a very similar name, so I would prefer not to use it. I don’t love [name]Camille[/name] or [name]Camilla[/name] (the “meal” sound bothers me for some reason). I’m so picky!

I love the name “[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name]” in your current favourites list… if only our puppy wasn’t already [name]Lucy[/name]!
