Tully & Tipper

Do you see these as girl names/boys names/unisex? (just from glancing without reading up on them first)

Thanks!!

[name]Tully[/name] is girl and [name]Tipper[/name] boy. They sound like a 40’s detective team.

[name]Tully[/name] is a girl and [name]Tipper[/name] is a boy.
They sound like animal names to me.

[name]Tipper[/name] was married to the former US Vice President, and enjoys knocking over cows in meadows.

[name]Tully[/name] is an Irishman with a blocked nose trying to say his name.

Interesting that [name]Tipper[/name] is seen as mostly male. [name]Tipper[/name] is listed as a girl name on NB and [name]Tully[/name] is unisex but both are listed as variations of Irish surnames.

Haha. Agreed. [name]Tipper[/name] [name]Gore[/name] is the only [name]Tipper[/name] I’ve ever heard of… So it’s a girl name to me. [name]Tully[/name] sounds like [name]Sully[/name]… So, I’d guess a boy.

[name]Both[/name] names are unisex, although [name]Tipper[/name] is just a nickname for a posh, upper-crust baby

My gut reaction was [name]Tully[/name]=boy, [name]Tipper[/name]=girl. I could see [name]Tully[/name] on a boy or a girl though would prefer on a boy. [name]Tipper[/name] makes me think of [name]Skipper[/name] (the [name]Barbie[/name] doll). I love [name]Tully[/name] for a boy.

For me, [name]Tully[/name] is a boy and [name]Tipper[/name] a girl but I can imagine both names being used for either gender.

My first impulse was that [name]Tully[/name] was male and [name]Tipper[/name] was female, likely because I associate it with [name]Tipper[/name] [name]Gore[/name]. I don’t think I would be too surprised if I turned out to be wrong, though. They both have a pretty unisex feel.

This, except I couldn’t remember [name]Tipper[/name] [name]Gore[/name] at all, just read the name and it felt feminine to me, and seeing this made me realise where I subconsciously knew it from. [name]Tipper[/name] sounds like [name]Pippa[/name] as well, which is probably another way it sounds feminine to me.

[name]Tully[/name] reminds me of [name]Sully[/name] or Gully, nicknames for boys I know called [name]Sullivan[/name] (well, that’s his surname) and [name]Gulliver[/name] (a first name), so it cries masculine to me.

Honestly not a fan of either, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see either name on either gender as they’re both unusual enough to not lean either way.

They both feel unisex to me. I thought girl - girl when I read the headline, though.

I think they could be either male or female, but they are nms (except I would consider them for pets-- I would definitely name a dog [name]Catullus[/name] with [name]Tully[/name] as a nn).

I think both are feminine sounding.

[name]Tipper[/name] and [name]Tully[/name] sound like names from a book.

I thought the same thing =)

I honestly didn’t think of a gender for either. They could both go both ways for me

[name]Tipper[/name]: boys name, I guess. Sounds more like a (unisex) nickname than an actual first name though.
[name]Tully[/name]: unisex, it could be a English version of either [name]Tullius[/name] or [name]Tullia[/name].

I agree 100%!

I thought [name]Tipper[/name] = girl and [name]Tully[/name] = boy. [name]Tipper[/name] reminds me of the best friend from What Happens in [name]Vegas[/name].
