Tulsa John?

It’s very likely going to remain as a GP/MN, but I adore the name [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] after watching GI [name_m]Blues[/name_m], and I’ve been toying with combos for it lately.

[name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] [name_u]John[/name_u] seems to be the best fitting for me so far, but I’d love to know other people’s thoughts on it, because if the general consensus is good, I may try and see if S/O will agree to it up front

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] [name_u]John[/name_u]?

Thank you! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I really like it! It’s quirky and rugged and fun. [name_u]John[/name_u] is a lovely grounding middle for it too.

Wow, like it! Never heard of [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] before, but it sounds quite down-to-earth. Of course I adore [name_u]John[/name_u] as middle name. It also lets the possibility of TJ as a nickname, which I’ve always like.

[name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] would be such a funny name in the US! Has a nice sounding though.

I adore [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] [name_u]John[/name_u]! The balance between the quirky, outdoorsy first and the solid, classic middle is fantastic. I will, of course, advocate for an [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] related name, but I think the connection is fantastic for you! Here’s hoping S/O can be persuaded.

I think [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] sounds feminine to be honest. I’m neutral on [name_u]John[/name_u] since it’s so common.

It sounds more masculine when spoken, than looking at it on paper.

I think its a cool name, something you’d see in ancestry in your great grandfathers time.

I think it would fit in with names like the modern [name_u]Ezra[/name_u], [name_u]Shia[/name_u], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], etc.

[name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] brings to mind the [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] race massacre in the US where a white mob destroyed a thriving [name_m]Black[/name_m] neighborhood and murdered several people. The sound is nice but it is not a name I would recommend using as it is something that people have been attempting to bring light to and is is becoming more well known as horrible national event with time, rather than less. I’ve mentioned this with [name_m]Rosewood[/name_m] as well and while I think [name_m]Rosewood[/name_m] is only known locally in [name_f]Florida[/name_f] and theoretically still useable, [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] has been on the national news and is in- or will be in- our American history books so is a larger scale event.

Thanks everyone!

@teajay - I don’t live in the US so I’m not overly familiar with the [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f] riots. I’ve never heard any reference to them in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] so I’m not sure the connection is the same, but I’ll keep this in mind. Thank you.
