Twilight names

A few of the names on my favourites list are characters in the Twilight series - [name]Esme[/name], [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name].
I’m thinking of scrapping the names based on their connection to the book, because I haven’t read it and have no interest in it and am afraid the names will be associated with the characters and/or will become popular this year and next.

What do you think? Is it silly to cross off the names based on this? [name]Do[/name] you think they will gain popularity?

[name]Alice[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name]? No, because the names are not only connected to Twilight. [name]Alice[/name] reminds me of [name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland, whereas [name]Rosalie[/name] is a long-standing form of [name]Rose[/name]. Those you don’t need to scrap for fear of the Twilight [name]Saga[/name]!

[name]Esme[/name], on the other hand, is a bit of a different story. I am unfamiliar with [name]Esme[/name] except for the Twilight series, so maybe I’m biased, but I think this one might need to go. You could try [name]Esmeralda[/name] instead, though…

Good luck!

[name]Lemon[/name]

I would definitely not scrap three perfectly fine names because of an awful, trendy series. I’ve read the Twilight books, and in my opinion, they’re not even good books, or well-written, just have an appealing topic- so they likely won’t be remembered after the teenagers reading it (my generation, actually, I’m kind of ashamed to admit) grow up. [name]Alice[/name] is one of my favorite names, and [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Esme[/name] are lovely too. I really doubt anyone will accuse you of naming your daughter after Twilight.

I don’t think that those names will become trendy because of the books. I think [name]Rosalie[/name] would get more used than [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Esme[/name]. [name]Bella[/name] however is another story…

I don’t think any of those are too connected to the books on their own, if you wanted to name three daughters those names, that’d be a different story! I actually like Twilight (not like I’m obsessed or anything, I just read the books and watched the movies, that’s it!) and I would never think a little [name]Alice[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Esme[/name] was named after the books! Especially since you are not a fan. I’d say it also depends on how old you are, I can’t imagine a late 20s-30s mom naming her baby after Twilight, but maybe a 16 year old would. And maybe a teen mothers friends would be much more likely to say “Ooh, [name]Rosalie[/name] like in Twilight!”, you know? I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, and no matter your age I would not scrap any of these names because they’re all beautiful!

Uh, sorry to get so long winded!

[name]Alice[/name] is too established to become that associated with one character. Well, there is Wonderland’s [name]Alice[/name], but… in fact, that helps: [name]Alice[/name] can never be only a Twilight character when there’s already a better-known one. And [name]Alice[/name] is an “ordinary” name even though it hasn’t been as common recently.

[name]Rosalie[/name], I have no idea.

A number of people associate [name]Esme[/name] with Twilight, and expect it to rise in popularity. It’s never ranked in the US, but maybe it will soon. And that’s bad, because I love the name. I’ve never read Twilight. I’ve read of more than one other [name]Esme[/name], so for me, it’s not one of those names that can become completely tied to one character. As long as it remains unusual, I’m willing to use it.
