Hello nameberries!
We are expecting twins this summer and are struggling to name them! We have only ever agreed on ONE boys name which is [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. These boys have an older sister [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
So far we have discussed:
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] (is this too twinsy? Matchy matchy?)
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] nn: [name_m]Ben[/name_m] (just seems so boring to me…)
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn: [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] (hubby’s not realllly behind this one)
Names he has rejected that I love:
[name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], anything Israeli sounding IE [name_m]Oren[/name_m], [name_m]Eitan[/name_m], [name_m]Dov[/name_m], etc, [name_m]Morris[/name_m].
We haven’t really even started thinking about middle names. [name_m]AH[/name_m]!
Thoughts??
Thanks!
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] is a bit match-y, but [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] don’t seem to fit either. What about [name_u]Theo[/name_u] instead? [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] works really well as a sibset.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], and
[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Marco[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_u]Noel[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_m]Ross[/name_m]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_u]Toby[/name_u]
[name_m]Warren[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_m]Idris[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Abram[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]
I agree with pp, [name_u]Avi[/name_u] seems too match-y and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] don’t fit too well.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m] would work better if you love the nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. I also love [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
[name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Rex[/name_u]? [name_m]Simon[/name_m]? [name_m]Luke[/name_m]? [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ike[/name_m]?
[name_m]Amias[/name_m]! pronounced um-EYE-us sounds like it would work well with eli or maybe even isaac
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] “[name_m]Fin[/name_m]”
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m]
I also like [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. Great twin sibset there! I don’t think [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] is too matchy. They go well together.
[name_m]Will[/name_m] [name_m]Eli[/name_m] be short for [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]? If so [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] would definitely go well. (3 syllables ) I also love [name_m]Simeon[/name_m]!
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and…

[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Axel[/name_m]
Thanks everyone. Maybe we can go back to the drawing board with [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]…
I think I like [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] but I’m just not sure. I love the way [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Ike[/name_m] look together, but the sound of [name_m]Ike[/name_m] seems so harsh.
Last night we discussed [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] which I like because of the same syllables and look.
The issue is there is no name I like as much as [name_m]Eli[/name_m] (just [name_m]Eli[/name_m], no [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]) and so I feel bad for twin B- who I already feel bad for because he was TOTALLY unplanned and a huge shock. I wish my hubs would come around to [name_m]Simon[/name_m].
Anyways thanks for your feedback! Keep em coming
Ooh, you have so many great choices here! I really like your short list.
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Avi[/name_u] – I think it’s only bordering on being too matchy, but is not unusably matchy. In your place I’d look for other names, but definitely not rule it out if it’s your favorite. Also wondering if [name_f]Violet[/name_f] has any nicknames that might sound like [name_u]Avi[/name_u], just to make sure there’s no problem there…
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] nn: [name_m]Ben[/name_m] --I love a pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Rueben[/name_m] (could still have nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m], if you like)–it’s more “exciting” in that it is less used than [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], plus I just love this name (has the same feel to me as another favorite of mine that you like: [name_m]Simon[/name_m])
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn: [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] --what about [name_u]Theo[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nn, and quite possibly as the full name. You also mention [name_m]Leo[/name_m] in a later post–I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (it’s my top boys name night now), but I think [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is a bit nicer in terms of being more distinct from [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] share both the “ee” and “l” sounds; again to me this is by no means unusably matchy, but having twins in the family, my thought is the more distinctive the names the better in terms of not getting annoyingly mixed up.
A few suggestions:
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Omry[/name_m] (this name seems to share a lot of elements with the names you love that have been vetoed)
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] (or [name_m]Jonas[/name_m])
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Kai[/name_u] (I’m not sure if this is at all your style, but it’s another favorite of mine and to me has a similar “feel”–but very different sound–to [name_m]Eli[/name_m], and is kind of a softer version of [name_m]Ike[/name_m])
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_m]Saul[/name_m]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. The boys have a similar feel and all of them get the prominent L sound which is lovely.
