I’m expecting twins any day now and am still trying to lock down my twin boy names. I know my twins are the same gender so I’m either having two boys or two girls.
For the boys, the top two names we have are [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] & [name_u]August[/name_u]. It’s not a bad combo but I wonder if it could be better balanced as a pair. Specifically, maybe one of the names could have a stronger feel to it. Right now, they both skew a bit romantic-y.
So, I’d love to know what suggestions you might have to pair with [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u]! Or, if you love the combo of [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] & [name_u]August[/name_u] as is, would love to know that too. : )

Personally, I like middle names that have meaning, whether that is by honoring someone or just loving the name. But purely on sound/flow, I like
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] & [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] & [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Riley[/name_u] & [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
I’ve been loving descriptive/positive word middle names lately. Maybe that could be a way you could bring the names together? Although it might make them extra romantic-y.
Examples:
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Noble[/name_m] & [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]True[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] are great together and if you love them I think you should go with them. I also like meaningful middles maybe honouring family but otherwise, some suggestions…
Oddly enough, I’m not usually fond of either [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] or [name_u]August[/name_u], but I think they sound MARVELOUS as a twinset. They have a similar vibe and sound similar enough to go together without being too “matchy.” I like that they both have a slightly romantic feel to them, but then again I’m a fan of romantic sounding boy names!
If I had to say I prefer one, it would be [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. This is mainly because I personally always found it odd to name someone [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]May[/name_f], etc if they were not actually born in that month. But since it’s gained so much popularity that probably wouldn’t matter much.
Also, congrats on the twins! I’m a little jealous :).
I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] are good together. I do think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] sounds a little foreign in the US.
Other suggestions:
I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] make a really wonderful pair for twins. Honestly I like the names better by hearing them paired together. They share certain sounds and evoke the same feeling, but they are not at all overly similar. If they’re your top two names I’d say look no further!

Like I should balance one of them out with a strong or just different sounding name like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] or [name_m]Mack[/name_m] or something…
First, I love seeing [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] used as our third baby boy due in a couple months is likely going to be [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]! And I love [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] together. I tend to go for the softer more romantic names as well. Our other boys are [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m], so in my opinion those would be other good name pairings with [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] but of course I am biased if you love the names don’t worry about how they may sound to others (aka too romantic, etc)
