I prefer [name]Arlo[/name] with [name]Rooney[/name].
Although I do adore [name]Arlo[/name] for a boy personally, when I suggested it to my partner he said “no because it sounds like a girls name” so maybe that will put your mind at ease. And bare in mind we live in the UK where boys names are much softer, and boys names on girls nowhere near as popular.
They’re not my style, but there is something quite cool about [name]Rooney[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name].
They do however look missmatched length wise when written down, so I’d try to balance them out as follows:
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Irene[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Bea[/name]
I love [name]Lucy[/name] as a middle name but I don’t like it with [name]Rooney[/name] because of the repeating “ee” endings, and I don’t love it with [name]Arlo[/name] because of the repeating “l” sounds. [name]Bea[/name] is very cool and would look good with the longer looking [name]Rooney[/name], but I think it sounds too harsh with [name]Rooney[/name] to be honest.
I’d probably do [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name] (very very sweet) and then I’m not sure about [name]Arlo[/name], I’d like a 1 syllable name to keep the pattern but [name]Irene[/name] is the longest looking name so maybe [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Irene[/name].
If you’re open to suggestions, how about:
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Maude[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
Best of luck with your little girls!
I think [name]Rooney[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name] go great together (I agree about the [name]Arley[/name] thing–[name]Arlo[/name] is better)! The difference in length doesn’t bother me, though; it’s only 2 letters.
I too like [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Mae[/name] the best (so fun to say!), followed evenly by [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Bea[/name] and [name]Rooney[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]. [name]Maud[/name] sounds heavy and antiquated next to [name]Rooney[/name]. [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Irene[/name] was the stand-out in my book. [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] don’t bother me so much for the repetition of the L or R, but for some reason I found myself modifying [name]Arlo[/name] to [name]Arla[/name] in order of say the middle name right away. I get tripped up for some reason. [name]Irene[/name] didn’t make me do that.
Besides [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Irene[/name], maybe a few of these might work (if you’re open)? I like the pp’s [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Belle[/name]. Also…
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Bess[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Reese[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Louise[/name] - perhaps as an alternative to [name]Lucy[/name]; this didn’t give me the same trouble [name]Lucy[/name] did.
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Kit[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Nina[/name]
All the best. [name]Love[/name] the names together!
[name]Rooney[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]/[name]Mae[/name] is my favorite. My least favorite is [name]Bea[/name].
[name]Arlo[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]/[name]Mae[/name]. Least favorite is [name]Irene[/name]
[name]Arley[/name] [name]Irene[/name]. Least favorite is [name]Lucy[/name].
I recommend just naming her [name]Arlo[/name] but have the nickname of [name]Arly[/name]. For example my friend [name]Carol[/name] is sometimes called [name]Carly[/name] or [name]Jen[/name] is called [name]Jeni[/name]. Like that.
Hate to throw a spanner in the works, but having twin girls myself, I thought that I’d just add something for you to consider. [name]One[/name] of my twins has a six letter name and the other has a five letter name and this has always been a problem for them. The one with only five letters feels hard done by, she can’t understand why she has one less letter. Might sound crazy to you now, but twins compare everything, and like everything to be fair and equal. I really regret not giving them names with the same amount of letters. [name]Even[/name] though you may not like the matching thing, eg endings of the names etc, there is no escaping it. If mine could, they would always choose to wear identical of at least matching (different colour) outfits. [name]One[/name] of my twins usually wears pink and the other likes to wear green or blue. This is also a bit of a twin thing that others sometimes find strange. Especially a girl twin thing as girls care more about how things look. Anyway, just thought I’d put it out there, being a parent of twins is very unique and comes with all these weird issues that you might never predict. Mine are identical so maybe this is more extreme than with fraternal twins, not sure. You may deliberately be trying to make them be more individual, but this is unnecessary as they will always have different personalities, so I think it’s fine to let them enjoy what they have in common too. Best of luck, it’s the most amazing thing ever…
