I have 3 children: [name]Matthew[/name] [name]James[/name] (7), [name]Noah[/name] [name]William[/name] (5) and [name]Ava[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (2). I am expecting twin girls who are due in 4 weeks. These are the names we like:
We would love your thoughts on these names and any other suggestions you can offer. Twin combinations would be great too. We would like their names to âmatchâ our other childrenâŚnothing random like [name]London[/name] or anything
Ok, Iâm an old fashioned, classic girl and it looks like by your other childrenâs names, you are too. I have to say, I love [name]Isabelle[/name] & [name]Madeline[/name]. Two very classic, sophisticated names. As far as âtwin namesâ, [name]Scarlett[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name] would be cute. Iâd just get too tongue tied calling them when they get older if they were mine. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
I like [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Gabrielle[/name] for twins if you want them to match at all.
But I also like [name]Madeline[/name]âŚI think [name]Madeline[/name] and [name]Gabrielle[/name] would fit nicely together with the other childrens names.
I love the names [name]Annika[/name], [name]Madeleine[/name], and [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Caitlin[/name] and all its various spellings is a beautiful name but there are so many little Caitlins, etc. running around. [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Hailey[/name] are really pretty, but also really popular. [name]Scarlett[/name] would be fun. Some other suggestions are [name]Anna[/name], [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] (the new [name]Madeleine[/name]-type name), [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Leila[/name] (just heard that at a two-year-old birthday party and liked it), [name]Claire[/name], [name]Lily[/name]/[name]Lillian[/name], and [name]Eleanor[/name] ([name]Ellie[/name] for short-darling). Of course, you have to think about where you live because if you live in say, Manhattan, there are some names that are so hot there that many of us arenât even aware of them yet. If you live in the Midwest, then you can use the more popular names and they are still very stylish. I recently lived in [name]Colorado[/name] which had many Caitlins, Haileys, Emmas, etc. Now I live in a part of L.A. where I recently heard the name [name]Evelyn[/name] at a very stylish park.
HmmâŚvery interestingâŚpersonally I like [name]Gabrielle[/name] and [name]Annika[/name] (maybe they could be nicknamed [name]Gabi[/name] and [name]Anni[/name]). Most others probably would think these didnât match in any way, but they both have three syllables, so thereâs one âmatchingâ element. I used to think Iâd automatically give twins alliterative names, but not necessarily anymore. For me, the alliterative factor would be an incidental thing. If I were lucky enough to have twin girls, Iâd name them Susina and [name]Skye[/name], just because I really love those two names and they are both unusual â i.e. you arenât too likely to hear stories of three or four classmates with the same name in a few years. I think a lot of your choices fit that criterion too, with a few exceptions (there are lots of little Haydens/Haylies/etc. out there). Trendy names drive me nuts. Seems to me every third kid is named [name]Taylor[/name]! Kudos to you for wanting to avoid that trap. I hope you will post when the twins are born and youâve made the final choices.
You could do [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name] for some similiarity (Ch) yet different in length and sound. I think for twins its nice to have something that connects the names to make it special but not make it too obvious. Another option is to choose two French namesâŚyou have a lot to choose fromâŚthe connection being the origin/variation yet the names being different in every other sense. I also like the suggestion given for [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Gabrielle[/name] if you are into the nicknames [name]Anni[/name] and [name]Gabi[/name], that could be cute. I think [name]Annika[/name] is a nice choice since its not common. I agree to avoid [name]Hayley[/name] and [name]Caitlyn[/name]âŚand go with either classic or not too common choices.
I donât know if you read âInteresting Twinsâ thread but someone posted on the best twin girl names sheâs heard: [name]Anika[/name] and [name]Lily[/name], which I think is really lovely. I do like [name]Annika[/name] with two nâs though. A nice option to consider is having the middle names connect rather than the first names, like having the middle names be French, such as [name]Annika[/name] [name]Gabrielle[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name].
I adore the name [name]Chloe[/name] but I think the long âOâ sound could be confusing with a [name]Noah[/name] in the house. I think [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Madeline[/name] are lovely together.
Iâm sure this seems like a random pair, but well, i donât like âmatchingâ twin names and this pair just jumped out at me right away for some reason: [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name]. I think they go well with your other childrenâs names, too. It may be the fact that I happen to really love both of those names, but I think they sound great together.
I like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] & [name]Gabrielle[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]. Kind of symmetrical but not overly matchy.
[name]Chloe[/name] & [name]Madeleine[/name] would also make good additions to your sib set.
The other names in your list ([name]Jasmine[/name], [name]Yasmine[/name], [name]Dominique[/name], [name]Annika[/name], [name]Hayley[/name], & [name]Caitlyn[/name]) donât go as well I donât think. Theyâre either too exotic or too trendy compared to your older childrenâs names, in my opinion. But in the end that might not matter to you - whatever you love will be best! Good luck and congratulations!
My vote would be for [name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Gabrielle[/name]. Possible fn/mn combos would be [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Louise[/name] & [name]Gabrielle[/name] [name]Elise[/name].
