I have been lurking on this site for a while…but am realizing that I might need actual opinions so I am asking for help! We have a son, [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Teddy[/name] and I am having the hardest time selecting names. My husbands only request is that one of the middle names be [name]Scout[/name]. Our last name is two syllables starting with S and ending in l with an “uhl” sound. Any help with good combinations/more ideas would be wonderful!
Names I like:
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]: getting too popular?
[name]Georgia[/name]: my current favorite
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name]: I dont think it will work with our last name
[name]Mae[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name]: love but don’t think I have enough guts to pull the trigger
I love [name]Georgia[/name]! I would do [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name]. Very cute!
[name]Hi[/name]!
I think I’d do either [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Susannah[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name], or [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. But, I don’t love that [name]Georgia[/name] repeats the EO of [name]Theodore[/name]…
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Scout[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Scout[/name] are my favorites! What other middle name ideas do you have? What is [name]Teddy[/name]'s middle name?
[name]Lemon[/name]
PS I also love [name]Sadie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Sarah[/name], and [name]Sarah[/name] would pair beautifully with [name]Charlotte[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name]. [name]Sarah[/name] “[name]Sadie[/name]” and [name]Charlotte[/name] “[name]Lottie[/name]” would be my vote!
I would pick [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name]. [name]Lovely[/name] names!
[name]Love[/name] your taste in names
[name]Anna[/name]- [name]Lovely[/name] & Classic
[name]Charlotte[/name]- It is getting popular, but to me it’s one of those timeless names, that won’t become dated
[name]Georgia[/name]-[name]LOVE[/name]!
[name]Ruby[/name]- this is cute, but for me I guess it just doesn’t seem to be enough of a name, especially with [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]- again [name]LOVE[/name]!
[name]Sadie[/name]- cute, but not quite the same style as the rest of your names unless it is as a nn for [name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name]- love [name]Mabel[/name] but it does sound like it would be problematic with your ln.
[name]Mae[/name]- Cute as a mn
[name]Jemima[/name]: [name]LOVE[/name]!
my favorite combinations:
[name]Georgia[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name]

I like [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name] together nn [name]Lottie[/name] and [name]Susie[/name]
and [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name]. [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] are also cute together.

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] [name]Scout[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name] [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name] [name]Samantha[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] isn’t really getting too popular quite yet. In fact, on your list it isn’t the most popular name. [name]Anna[/name] is in the top 30 I believe, if you look at the social security administrations list of popular baby names.
That said, I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]! [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] would make a great pair!
I love [name]Susannah[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] together!
[name]Hi[/name], again!
I also think that [name]Estella[/name] and [name]Gwendolen[/name] would be perfect with [name]Theodore[/name]! [name]Gwendolen[/name] [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Estella[/name] [name]Fay[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name] [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Estella[/name] [name]Dove[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name] [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Estella[/name] [name]Fern[/name]? [name]Teddy[/name], [name]Stella[/name], and [name]Gwen[/name]…
[name]Lemon[/name]
PS [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Georgina[/name]?
Seconded!
– [name]Christy[/name] ([name]Margaret[/name])
I would love to see [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name] as well! [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] also stand out to me from your list.
You’ve got some great names! I think [name]Mae[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], and [name]Sadie[/name] are too flimsy with [name]Theodore[/name], even if he goes by [name]Teddy[/name]. It strikes me as unbalanced- [name]Theodore[/name] is long and grand, but [name]Mae[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], and [name]Sadie[/name] are nickname-y. To me it’s kind of like a sibset named [name]Wilhelmina[/name] and [name]Joe[/name]- disproportionate, heft-wise.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Anna[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] & [name]Susannah[/name] as twinsets. [name]Charlotte[/name] is getting more popular, but as others have said, [name]Anna[/name] is far more widely used (and not just in this generation). I don’t think there’s anything wrong with popular names, unlike many people on this site. I think it just means their names will be recognized more and misspelled less. If you truly love the names, go for it, regardless of how many other Charlottes or Annas there may be. [name]Georgia[/name] & [name]Susannah[/name] go well together, too, and are a good option if you really want to avoid meeting too many others who share your daughters’ names. [name]Jemima[/name] is just too quirky for the other names, in my opinion. If one girl was named [name]Jemima[/name] and the other got something else off the list, [name]Jemima[/name] might feel she got the “weird name” while her sister may feel she got the “boring name.”
I really like the combo of [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. Also, I saw someone suggested the name [name]Violet[/name]. I think [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name] go very nice together, and [name]Violet[/name] [name]Scout[/name] is an adorable name.
[name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name] instantly popped out at me. I think they would make a great combination. [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] are nice too but it seems kinda predictable to me. [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name] makes for a fun and spunky combo.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]?
With big brother [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Teddy[/name]:
I think [name]Georgia[/name] is a great fit with [name]Theodore[/name], and it’s your favorite so let’s find a sister for [name]Georgia[/name]. (I also like [name]Georgina[/name]/[name]Georgiana[/name] as pp suggested)
[name]Anna[/name] - would work with [name]Georgia[/name] but not as much with [name]Teddy[/name] I don’t think
[name]Charlotte[/name] - with [name]Georgia[/name] it’s a little too geographical, at least if you’re in the US
[name]Ruby[/name] - too nickname-y with [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] imo
[name]Susannah[/name] - again, very southern with [name]Georgia[/name]. I actually keep mis-reading this as [name]Savannah[/name] when I see it with [name]Georgia[/name] (it might just be me though)
[name]Sadie[/name] - too nickname-y with [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] although I think it’s adorable with [name]Teddy[/name].
[name]Mabel[/name] - if it doesn’t work, I’m taking it off the list
[name]Mae[/name] - not long enough to stand up to [name]Georgia[/name] or [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name]
If you decide not to use [name]Georgia[/name], I think you have some different options.
[name]Sarah[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] (although [name]Ruby[/name] would be the only one without a nn)
[name]Anna[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Molly[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Annelise[/name] and [name]Rosemary[/name] - [name]Annie[/name] and [name]Rosie[/name] - so cute with [name]Teddy[/name]!
Good luck!
Thank you for all of the wonderful suggestions! I would use [name]Sarah[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name] in a heartbeat but there is already a [name]Sarah[/name] in the family.
With all of the positive feedback I am beginning to feel confidant that the first names will be some combination of [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Susannah[/name], and/or [name]Georgia[/name] and the middle names [name]Scout[/name], and then either [name]Ruby[/name] or [name]Mae[/name].
So now all I need to do is pick two first names and then figure out which middles to use where!
my vote goes to [name]Georgia[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name]!!
My vote is with [name]Georgia[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]!
I have always loved the idea of the double barrel name [name]Mae[/name] [name]Belle[/name], like mabel but sounds so much nicer to me. Also included the totally hip belle in a totally unique way.
You have beautiful taste! Well, here goes:
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] “[name]Anna[/name]” & [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Scout[/name] “[name]Lottie[/name]” are my two favorites (+ mn’s) from your list. Here are some that [name]IMO[/name] fit with [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Teddy[/name]:
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Scout[/name] &
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Hero[/name]. Sort of mixes romantic/classical with cool.
[name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Scout[/name] “[name]Rory[/name]/[name]Romy[/name]/[name]Rosie[/name]” &
[name]Artemis[/name] [name]Sailor[/name] “[name]Mimi[/name]/[name]Emmy[/name]/[name]Arie[/name]”.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Scout[/name] &
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Plum[/name]. (There are countless nn’s for [name]Elizabeth[/name], but maybe [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Liza[/name], [name]Betsy[/name] ot [name]Tilly[/name]. And for [name]Cordelia[/name]: [name]Delia[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Celia[/name].)
Any that strike your fancy?
