I know I’ve posted this before and I am sorry to be so annoying. We’re expecting twin girls in [name]May[/name] and have NO names! NONE!!
We’re a family of redheads and assume the girls will have red hair as well, but when asked for suggested “redheaded” names, it became apparent that was a silly criteria for names. Ditto trying to pick out a theme twin-set of names. So, I’m basically back to the drawing board.
My DH has no suggestions and is no help at all.
Our 3 year old DS is named [name]Connor[/name] and we [name]LOVE[/name] his name. I so would like to find girls names I love just as much as my son’s. But every name suggested to us just doesn’t sound right and I don’t know what to do! Everything is either:
Too trendy, too popular, too common or boring, too weird, too SOMETHING. Gah!
The only names I liked even a little were nature names like [name]Violet[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Aspen[/name] and [name]Sage[/name]. But those were all vetoed.
I’d really love some help. I don’t know where to really start. I’d like meaningful names, I’d like them to kind of “go” with [name]Connor[/name]. Our last name is very English and we had a lot of people tell us how very British [name]Connor[/name]'s name sounded (in a good way, lol).
I like [name]Felicity[/name] a lot. but DH doesn’t.
I suck at this. I am so afraid these babies are going to remain nameless!!
I like [name]Ruby[/name]! And that keeps popping up I also like [name]Elowen[/name] but wondered if people would try to shorten it to some weird nickname?
I like [name]Rose[/name] too and had thought about doing [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. Is that too matchy for twins?
Thank you so much for the suggestions. [name]Feel[/name] free to keep 'em coming
[name]Connor[/name] is adorable. I think a few sister names for him might be: [name]Bronwen[/name], [name]Nora[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Avalon[/name].
I think [name]Elowen[/name] is adorable (and goes REALLY well with [name]Connor[/name].) I thought of [name]Rose[/name] for you when writing out my first suggestions, but went with [name]Rosalie[/name] instead.
[name]Connor[/name], [name]Elowen[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name] could be an adorable sibling name set!
If [name]Elowen[/name] gets shortened at all, it’ll probably get shortened to [name]Elle[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], or [name]Wynn[/name]. Another similar name I just thought of is [name]Eliora[/name] (el-lee-or-ah). [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] are cute, but a little close for me personally.
[name]Ruby[/name] is a very cute name, but if I were you, I would avoid “red” names. If I were to meet a red head named [name]Ruby[/name], I would think she had been named that solely because of her hair colour. If the meaning of the name has something todo with “red”, it wouldn’t be a problem.
I like the idea of twins having their own names that match in style and meaning, but not in sound. For example:
[name]Anne[/name] & [name]Grace[/name] (both names mean grace)
[name]Lily[/name] & [name]Susanna[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name] & [name]Eleanor[/name] (this is my favourite combo; both mean "radiant, shining one)
Have to second [name]Elowen[/name], it’s a lovely name. I wouldn’t do [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] but if you want a link you can look for something more subtle like [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Rosalind[/name] (shakespeare), [name]Aurelia[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] (roman but also; dawn and light), [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] (greek), [name]Katharine[/name] and [name]Vera[/name] (old hollywood), [name]Elowen[/name] and Endellion (both Cornish), [name]Elowen[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name]/[name]Wren[/name]/[name]Iris[/name] (nature names).
Sorry for any repeats, everyone has suggested such lovely names so far!
I particularly love the suggestion of [name]Elowen[/name], which means “elm.” I hadn’t thought of that one, but I was trying to think of some tree-related names that might go along with your love of nature names. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Rowan[/name] (means red-headed, but is also the name of a tree)
[name]Cassia[/name] (okay, doesn’t mean red-headed, but it is the name of the tree cinnamon comes from!)
[name]Linden[/name]
[name]Acacia[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
I like [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] a lot individually, but I agree that they might be a smidge close for twins.
Wow, you are all awesome! I am jotting down many of these for my DH to see what he thinks later when he gets home from work tonight.
Curious what the combo of [name]Elowen[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] sounds like to you. Too different? I am loving [name]Elowen[/name] more and more…I had really liked the made-up names of [name]Arwen[/name] and [name]Eowyn[/name] from [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings but DH said no. [name]Elowen[/name] is similar enough that it’s just as appealing to me. I would hate for it to be shortened to [name]Ellie[/name] though. I’m kind of anti-nickname…
