Twin Girls

I need help picking out names for twin girls. My husband and I want to use the family names [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Alice[/name]. Any combos that will work well with these?

Thanks for you input and help!

[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] are so pretty! [name]Do[/name] you want them to be the first or middle names, or does it matter?

We are open to both options although originally I was thinking as middle names since current members of our families have them as first names.

Thanks for your input and help!

[name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Alice[/name] as middles, hmm. Here’s a few random thoughts, keeping in the style of [name]Charlotte[/name] & [name]Alice[/name]:

[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Lila[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Carys[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Margery[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Elspeth[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Clara[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Genevra[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Katharine[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Anouk[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Saskia[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Esme[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Flora[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

I’m just going by sheer randomness here, if there’s anything here you like, let me know and I can focus in on that particular type. [name]Hope[/name] this helps some!

I like [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], and [name]Clara[/name] as options. We gravitate towards the “Yupster” names.

I like [name]Carys[/name], but I like the concept, origins and meaning, more than the sound.

I was also considering [name]Alicia[/name] (pronounced [name]Ali[/name] - cee- a , not [name]Alisha[/name]) as an option for a first name since there is an [name]Alice[/name] as a first name in the current family. Although, I’m not sure if I should keep the integrity of [name]Alice[/name] as its a family name dating back three generations, putting it as a middle name instead to keep repeating a current first family name.

I wouldn’t substitute myself. My Mother did that for us kids (she didn’t want repeating names in the family) but all three of us grew up annoyed that we didn’t fit into the family then. We got family middles at least, which somewhat mollyfied us.

And to top that off, [name]Alicia[/name] with the three syllable spansh pronuncation? That’s going to give her headaches and then some. I know one, she’s the 10 year old of a dear friend, married to a Portuguese girl. Her sister is [name]Andrea[/name], with the spanish pronuncation and the two of them are always and forever correcting people. [name]Alicia[/name] has started answering to ah-leash-ah because it’s what she hears the most and is tired of correcting everyone (she loves us that get it right, though).

[name]Alice[/name] is a lovely name (one my mother wanted to use on me) and moving it to the middle is sufficient to keep it from repeating too badly in the family.

Now, some other names, similar to [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Annabel[/name] & [name]Clara[/name]:

[name]Marina[/name]
[name]Clarissa[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Camilla[/name]
[name]Angelica[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name]
[name]Rosa[/name]
[name]Julia[/name]
[name]Livia[/name]
[name]Cornelia[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Vivien[/name]
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Bella[/name]
[name]Valentina[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

[name]Lola[/name] gave you a lot of great ideas! I, too, would stay away from [name]Alicia[/name]. For me, it’s nowhere near as classy or beautiful as [name]Alice[/name], and [name]Alicia[/name] will be mispronounced more times than not. While A-lee-cee-uh is much prettier than A-LEESH-a or A-[name]LISH[/name]-a, I doubt people will pronounce it that way!

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Alice[/name] (I love this!)
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Eva[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Nora[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

Best wishes!

Thanks for your input on [name]Alicia[/name] vs. [name]Alice[/name]. I agree.

One last twist on [name]Alice[/name] I was considering is [name]Alise[/name] since there was an [name]Elise[/name] in my family. Any thoughts on this variation?

[name]Emmeline[/name], never heard of this…interesting but pretty.

I love [name]Julia[/name].

I also like [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Grace[/name]!

I love [name]Emma[/name], but, my cat has that name!

You have so many wonderful classic names to choose from, and you really can’t go wrong! That said, I’d definitely stick with [name]Alice[/name], staying away from [name]Alice[/name]'s many variations, none of which possess [name]Alice[/name]'s elgance or class.

[name]Alise[/name] is going to be mispronounced and misspelled(I have a friend named [name]Emily[/name] [name]Alise[/name], and everyone gets her middle name wrong), and it looks like a “made up” name.

[name]Emmeline[/name] is one of my favorite names. I pronounce it [name]Emma[/name]-line, while others may say [name]Emma[/name]-leen. [name]Emmeline[/name] is a gorgeous classic/vintage name, and it’s an elegant alternative to the overused [name]Emma[/name].

Juilet and [name]Grace[/name] are gorgeous, too! So many great choices… I love [name]Emmeline[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] together!

Some more ideas:
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Honor[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Laura[/name]

You love [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Grace[/name], You would love to use [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] as middles, hmmm…
[name]Juliet[/name] Aiice - what do you think?
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Grace[/name] - oh, other family member have used [name]Charlotte[/name] as a first.
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] ([name]Caroline[/name] is a form of [name]Charlotte[/name] and has the same meaning) - this is lovely, I think! As long as your last name doesn’t have an “r” in it. That would be too many “r’s”.
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Carlotta[/name] ( [name]Carlotta[/name] is a form of [name]Charlotte[/name]) - I don’t like saying [name]Grace[/name] [name]Carlotta[/name], though. I feel like I have a huge bite of cottage cheese in my mouth. Not fun!
[name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] - so many consonants, kind of awkward to say.
It would help to know your last name.
Some other names that would sound good with [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] as middles:
(I really love both the names [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] by the way!)
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Alice[/name] nn [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Alice[/name] (Greek, would be pretty with [name]Eleni[/name], see below) nn [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Alice[/name] nn [name]Rose[/name], [name]Romy[/name], [name]Rosie[/name] - I love this name!
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Alice[/name] - your choice, this is gorgeous!
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Alice[/name] - nn [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evie[/name]

[name]Adeline[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Addie[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Immy[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Lillian[/name] is so popular, but I really love this!) nn [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Eleni[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Eleni[/name] is the Greek form of [name]Helen[/name]) nn [name]Lainie[/name]
[name]Melina[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] (Greek, too) nn [name]Lena[/name]
[name]Viola[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] - [name]Jill[/name]‘s idea - so gorgeous!
I know I repeated some other posters’ ideas. These are the ones I really love plus I added some of my own ideas.

A few more:

[name]Gemma[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Jem[/name]-ma)
[name]Elodie[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

Thanks,

I see your point with [name]Alise[/name] looking “made-up.” Although, I like the French sound. It seems best to keep the integrity of [name]Alice[/name] instead of a variation.

Yes, lots of good choices to mull over. Thanks for everyone’s input!

This is coming from a very biased source, being an [name]Alice[/name] myself, but I love both of those as first names. They are very beautiful and classic. In my family, when we have more than one person with a name we call the older one by their part in the family and the younger one just by their name (ie “Grandma [name]Sarah[/name]” and “[name]Sarah[/name]”). It works out fine.

I like:

[name]Alice[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
-and-
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Grace[/name]

I’m glad more people like the name [name]Alice[/name] now. When I was younger, all of my classmates thought it was a mispelling of ‘[name]Allie[/name]’ or a nickname for [name]Allison[/name] or [name]Alicia[/name], but now everyone gets it right!

[name]Both[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] are gorgeous names - classic and traditional with a gentle softness about them. Due to this, I would love to use a ‘spicier’ first name in order to jazz things up a little…

[name]Eva[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Evita[/name])
[name]Hania[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Maia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Amity[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Jada[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

[name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Alice[/name] ([name]Pippa[/name])
[name]Saskia[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

Also, what are your thoughts on [name]Charlize[/name] and [name]Aliza[/name] (prn. ah-[name]LEE[/name]-zah), as a way to honor [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Alice[/name], but give your girls their own individual names?

Great suggestions.

Yes, I love [name]Alice[/name] - its my middle name and goes back as a first name to my great-grandmother. My cousin’s first name is [name]Alice[/name], she’s my age, which is why I feel weird about using it as a first.

[name]Charlotte[/name] is my husband’s mother and late grandmother’s first name.

My husband loves the name [name]Grace[/name] - I feel its too popular.

I love [name]Juliette[/name].

Perhaps it will be [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Grace[/name]? Is that too matchy with the tte ending?

[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would make a gorgeous combination! Yes, [name]Grace[/name] is very popular, but it’s popular for a reason! For me, the tte endings aren’t too matchy as they’re pronounced differently ([name]Julie[/name]-ett versus [name]Char[/name]-litt…[name]Charlotte[/name] isn’t char-LETT). That said, I do prefer [name]Juliet[/name] to [name]Juliette[/name], so you could always spell [name]Juliet[/name] this way to avoid any spelling issues you may have.

Best wishes!

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Grace[/name] are so pretty. For me [name]Juliet[/name] is much more elegant than [name]Juliette[/name].

Babyz~
[name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] are beautiful! [name]Do[/name] you need middle name suggestions? I’ll give you some.
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Mae[/name] or [name]Alice[/name] [name]Marie[/name]

Good luck!

I like [name]Isadora[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
