[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone, I’m pregnant with twin girls, due in [name_u]November[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the names [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. But concerned they are too “nicknamy”, especially [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. I don’t really like the full name [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Would appreciate if anyone knows any alternative full names for [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. Would also like to know your opinion on whether the names are too matchy to be a sibset. If so, I would most likely use the name [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. Thoughts?
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Halle[/name_u], without the i, and my middle name is [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I don’t think the names are too matchy for sisters. [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] does sound a little like a nickname, but it can stand alone.
Thank you. What do you prefer? Spelling [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] or [name_u]Halle[/name_u]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] people mispronounce or misspell your name often?
I love my name, but sometimes people do mispronounce it when they see it in writing before hearing it. Usually after I correct them once or twice they get it. I know someone named [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], and people do seem to pronounce her name easier, but most native [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers seem to understand the spelling in both names.
[name_f]Hailey[/name_f]? Very similar. [name_f]Maile[/name_f] also catches that vibe.
[name_f]Mathilda[/name_f]?
I don’t think they’re too nickname-y personally, but my favourite full name for [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f].
as @futuremama said, ottilie “tilly” is a lovely option!
and now I’m thinking henrietta & ottilie “hallie & tilly” would be too cute
Oh yes, I adore [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], what about [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] as a full name for [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] or is that too much of a stretch? Not such a fan of [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f].
I think it would make more sense if she had an L middle. Like [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or something like that
That’s a great idea. How does [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Leila[/name_f] sound?
I think harriet “hallie” is very cute and not too much of a stretch! as @futuremama said, a middle name starting with L could help explain it if you think it will be a problem trying to explain it!
i think harriet leila is sweet, and i love how leila matches hallie’s fun and carefree vibe.
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] are great as sisters.
I will state that most people will think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is short for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. But I love the suggestion of [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f].
Other ideas:
[name_f]Chantilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tinsley[/name_f]
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
I know a Natalie who goes by Tillie! Her mother doesn’t like the name Matilda either. I think Hallie and Tilly sound great together.
I say if you love the names [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], name your girls [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. I don’t think they’re too matchy or nickname-y. I’m probably going with a “nickname” for my little girl due in [name_u]January[/name_u] and am sick of trying to come up with a fallback option “for when she’s older”. I say name them what you plan to call them. [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] are beautiful!
[name_f]Helene[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], or [name_u]Hazel[/name_u] nicknamed [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] would be so cool. And I think [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] for [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is super sweet!
I don’t think they’re too matcha at all! There’s a chance there could be a few little mix ups sometimes, but I doubt it. I really love [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] & [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], especially as twins!! [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] & [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] is also adorable- though I prefer [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] & [name_f]Tilly[/name_f].
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Leila[/name_f] is adorable! I especially love that [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] & [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] are very spunky names!! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite for [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is [name_f]Helena[/name_f], though it’s a big of a stretch.
Like others have said, Otillie/Ottilie is a pretty cool full name for [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]! [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] are my favorite though, and I do think she might get a few “oh, is [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] short for Matilda?”’s.
As far as nickname names go I find [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] both very wearable, though personally I definitely find them too matchy. Certainly not the most extremely matchy, I’m just really not a fan of matchy names on twins.
[name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] work together and I don’t find them too nicknamey.
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] would be absolutely gorgeous though
