Twin Girls

Hello. We will be having twin girls in [name_m]August[/name_m], and I am wondering if the names we have picked are too similar. Our older three kids are [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], and [name_f]Emelia[/name_f]. We would like to not use E names again, but want to keep the ending “ah” sound.

The names we love for the twins are [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] pronounced [name_f]Lily[/name_f]- [name_f]Anna[/name_f] from frozen, not the short “a” sound like [name_f]Anne[/name_f], and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] pronounced Lie-lah with a long “i”. We would probably call them [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f].

I think these names sound unique and not too similar to each other, but they start with the same first three letters. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that is a major enough similarity where we need to change the names?

Here are other options we have.
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] (Lily & Lyla) same names, but with [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] spelled [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] so they don’t look as similar.

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] (Lily & Lilah) I don’t love [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but it would be a way for Lilah’s legal name to be different.

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (Lily & Sophie)

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Aria[/name_f]

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Aria[/name_f]

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]

I would love everyone’s opinions on these names for our twins! Thank you.

Unfortunately my brain does confuse the two name [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Liliah[/name_f]. I could get on board with [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] though. I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] is my favorite pairing because they are distinct but still have that matching letter.

I don’t feel like they’re especially matchy (I’ve heard much match-ier names). They’re stunning together, but your other ideas are also absolutely beautiful. I especially love [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. I think it should really come down to if you like them or think they’re too matchy! I’m sure whatever you choose will be amazing!

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are definitely too similar for sisters and especially twins, in my opinion. All the letters of [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], except for the H, are used in [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f]. They look and sound similar.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite name from your list is [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but if you don’t love it, I would eliminate that option. From your list, I would probably go with [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].

I would suggest:
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Ariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Tiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Selah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Viviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Letitia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Delphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Anita[/name_f]

[name_f]Juliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] & [name_f]Marianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] & [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] & [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] & [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] & [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] & [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Alana[/name_f] & [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] & [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicia[/name_f] & [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f] & [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] & [name_f]Norah[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f] & [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] & [name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f] & [name_f]Flavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] & [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Liana[/name_f] & [name_f]Alba[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f] & [name_f]Luana[/name_f]
[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] & [name_f]Philippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Idalia[/name_f] & [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Celina[/name_f] & [name_f]Calista[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] & [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f] & [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] & [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]

I would definitely mix those up. And if I met twins with those names who were identical or looked a lot alike, I feel like my brain wouldn’t remember who was who.

[name_f]Liliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] could work, they’re a little matchy but not too much, I’ve never heard/seen ‘worst’, & that spelling helps to differentiate between the names.

From your other options I like [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - this gives you the NN option you want yet gives her an individual name. Also means if you found too many people were confusing [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] & Lilah/Lyla you could switch to introducing her as [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] instead.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] feels like a short form of [name_f]Lilianna[/name_f], imo.

I love the sound of [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]!

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] are also my fav.

I would give [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] a miss because it’s very similar in sound to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] as well as sharing similarities to [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f].

I prefer siblings not to have matching names or any distinct patterns but you will have your own preferences. From your list I would probably go with [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] are sweet and timeless.

They are a bit close to me - plus [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] sounds very similar to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] too

Of your options, I think these are good:

[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] → strong and pretty

[name_f]Loretta[/name_f] → this is an unexpected choice - lovely name, and distinct from your other kids

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] → a solid choice, so long as you don’t mind its popularity

[name_f]Loretta[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] would be nice

Some that came to mind:

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
[name_f]Lula[/name_f]
[name_f]Talullah[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]

I think that the names are too similar, and that respelling them or changing nicknames won’t help.

I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], or [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f], best of the options you’ve suggested.

I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] & [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] & [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] would feel a little more simple and distinct!

In agreement with other Berries that they are too close and Lilah is too close to Elijah. Lilliana and Sophia are lovely together and you have some other great suggestions. I especially like…

Estella
Linnea
Cecilia
Ariana
Vivianna
Tallulah
Cassia
Lyra
Lula
Thea

I like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], I don’t think they are too matchy!

I feel like they are too close for me. You have other great options

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]

I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Viviana[/name_f] .

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & think it’s so beautiful with your sibset and in general. Especially with the sweet lovable nn of [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (but I really need this spelling!). However, [name_f]Lily[/name_f] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] do feel too close for sisters. I’m not sure that [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] helps & it looks off to me spelled that way. I don’t like 'y’s where they don’t feel like they’re supposed to be. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is different, because that’s just how that name is always spelled in [name_f]English[/name_f].

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] at all vs. [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f]? I don’t think that I mind the two 'l’s, but would be tempted to do [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] as a nn if there are two 'l’s in [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f], you know? [name_m]Just[/name_m] food for thought.

Anyway! Here are my thoughts on the other options:

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & Delilah-It does sort of solve the problem of the names being too similar, but you don’t love [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. And I don’t either, really. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is softer & nicer.

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (Lily & Sophie)-Lilliana & [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (I’m picky again & prefer [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], but it’s okay :joy:) go nicely together. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is really popular in case that bothers you.

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & Aria-These sound nice as twins. I don’t like [name_f]Aria[/name_f] as much as [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is popular but still feels classic. I think that [name_f]Aria[/name_f] seems kind of more trendy.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & Aria-These are nice for twins too, but I love [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] the most of all your names.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & Sophia-Same as above.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & Lydia-These are too close for twins too, if you ask me.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & Loretta-Loretta is a curve ball! One of these names that I don’t really like, but I would be excited to meet a little kid named it anyway because it’s vintage & unexpected. Plus, the nn [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] could be cute. Also, [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] & Lettie/Lottie. [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] kind of reminds me of the name [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] & [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] & [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] would be cute!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] my rambling helps.

Congratulations! :sunny::sunny::sunny:

I’m afraid I would personally mix these names up… But the lilies and lilacs connection is very pretty  From the two, I prefer [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f], because [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] rhymes with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]. Both names are gorgeous though

Ah-ending names... - #12 by CarysMarie

I’m a mum of twin girls. You won’t believe the number of times you’ll say their names together! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] would definitely get me muddled up. And if your girls are identical and/or look very similar (as mine do) it really helps for them to have distinct names. People will mix them up regardless, but it makes it much easier to help remember which is which if their names aren’t so matchy.

You could switch [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] to [name_f]Leila[/name_f] or [name_f]Layla[/name_f] - it’s a similar name, but sounds different enough from [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] (and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] too) to work a lot better in your family.

If you really like the idea of them having the same initial, I think that’s fine, especially since your older kids share the E initial, as long as the names aren’t too similar otherwise. [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] would be a good option if you want to go down that route.

I too think they are too close in sound which is a shame as they’re very pretty names.
I jumped in to suggest [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] as an an alternative option to [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as you seemed to have some reservations about it.

[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] are distinctive twin names but they have a subtle floral connection they could go by [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lia[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lia[/name_f] so many nickname options…

All the best finding the perfect names for your new additions!

They are too similar for me. Of the options I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] works best if you want to keep the matching initials. Otherwise [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] would be my fave.

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] definitely a no go. You already have a kid called [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] & [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are way too similar. And if you add any [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - name in the mix then I just feel bad for [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], that name is way too close to the siblings.
