I’m expecting twins, and struggling to come up with any names. Anyone here with twins, how did you come up with their names? [name]Do[/name] you have a particular theme? Any tips on twin names? What are your twins called? Thanks so much
[name]Hi[/name] again spunky! My twins were named like any other siblings. I don’t like matchy names for twins but I would try to stick within the same style. We used maiden names from our family for middle names. My twins names are [name]William[/name] [name]Arden[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Kendell[/name], they go as [name]Will[/name] and [name]Ollie[/name]. Big sis is [name]Kaia[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] and GG would have been [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name]. If you could give us a few examples of names you like we could make suggestions! Your boys have lovely names! [name]Oliver[/name] is one my all time faves. I like lots of names and as I don’t know the genders it’s harder to come up with combos. Here’s a comprehensive list of favourite names (link below). Thanks!
I dated a guy once, with twins running in his family. Being the name freak I am, I came up with the dream children of [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Esme[/name]. Lol.
As for advice, I just don’t like it when twin’s names are matchy-matchy. Seriously, I went to school with these twins [name]Brandy[/name] and [name]Mandy[/name]. (WT. . . ) Also, I don’t like it when people name their twins to off beat names. Like a girl/girl set named [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (super old fashioned and feminine) and [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Kai[/name] (masculine and “trendy”)
p.s. I saw these twins with the last name “[name]Hale[/name]” and the parents named them [name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name]! (Characters in Twilight if you don’t know) Please, don’t do that. Kids are mean. The Twilight Twins (Update) | Twilight Guy: A Guy Reads Twilight By Stephenie MeyerTwilightGuy.com
[name]Hi[/name]! Congratulations on expecting twins! What Fun! I dont have any children, let alone twins, so I hope you dont mind me commenting! Imho, I think the first thing to think about - which I’m sure you have - is that they will each have totally individual personalities from each other. However, just because people are the way they are, they will very often be lumped together as ‘The Twins’, so having UN-matchy names is something I think I would be grateful for if I were a twin. I do think that it is ok to have a subtle connection, though, rather than an obvious theme, ie: no-more of a theme than you might use on normal siblings - an idea I quite like. Some examples: Using the same style or era. Maybe all Classical names - [name]William[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name], Biblical names, eg. [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Joseph[/name], or Modern styles. Names with the same meaning from different languages or cultures. Using the same no. of syllables and/or letters. I think using the same SOUNDS - not necessarily letters - can be too matchy - [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] is lovely as aposed to [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Shelley[/name]! I have recently read a post by someone considering [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] - both 2 syllables, the connection not immediately recognisable, but is botanical - one being a tree name and one a flower and both of a similar style - rather Vintage. Neither of the two are trendy/popular, but not unknown. Still both allow for much individuality and there is still space and choice to carry on the connection with future siblings. If you go to the Nameberry advice pages, I think you will find much help there! I hope this has helped! Good [name]Luck[/name]!
