[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all I was curious how many moms but an emphasis on "matching names "? [name_u]Or[/name_u] was this nore of a generational thing, not as popular or is it?
So I have a twin sister, [name_f]Aubreyanna[/name_f] , I am [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]. Which i totally understand its feminine for a male name. Its not as feminine aa my sisters. I actually liked the name. Middle name is [name_u]Lee[/name_u] though I go by [name_u]Ari[/name_u] much more then [name_f]Arianna[/name_f]. I still have a great relationship with my twin. Anyways I just wanna known any cute matching twin name’s. Being a twin raised in the 2000s. I was wondering if thats a trend still
I think matching name’s are adorable.
Alsi for any concerned parents, for me havng a decidedly more feminine name. Did not have a negative effect on me
If anything it gave me confidence to be whomever I want to
I think in the nameberry/naming community super ‘matchy’ names is kind of frowned upon, however well-matched names are popular. (aka [name_f]Letitia[/name_f] & [name_f]Felicia[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] & [name_u]Abby[/name_u] etc. would be a no, but [name_u]Wren[/name_u] & [name_u]Lark[/name_u] or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] would be ok)
But I think in the broader world matching twins names will be perennially popular.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with coordinating twin names. [name_m]Even[/name_m] some can be pretty matchy–same first letter, two flower names, things like that–and it can be sweet. I draw the line at two names that are essentially the same (Ivy & [name_m]Ivan[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u] & [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_m]Victor[/name_m] & Victoria) or things that rhyme (Breanna & Deanna). That’s not cute. It’s making a joke out of the names, or failing to recognize the twins as individuals.
My.mom was obsessed with the twin thing. I was just curious if the matching is still a thing.
[name_f]My[/name_f] sister and I were t was really close as kids, so we loved the matching names [name_f]My[/name_f] personality and me aa a person is very Feminine
So I love my name. Well other then middle. Its [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. It still kinda matches [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
I still tease my mom about giving me a really pretty name in [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] then matching it with [name_u]Lee[/name_u] lol . I could never change it [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is still cute overall.
I quite like co-ordinating names for twins (or sibs in general) - just not sure I’d do something rhyming or where the sounds are very similar (with no differentiating nicknames), because I think it would get confusing when calling them
I’ve known twins with matchy names: [name_m]Timmy[/name_m] and [name_u]Tommy[/name_u], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Alina[/name_f] and [name_f]Amina[/name_f], [name_m]Jake[/name_m] and [name_u]Jade[/name_u], [name_f]Zoya[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoha[/name_f], Shereen and Sheneen - not sure what they all thought of it, but I know some who were mixed up with varying levels of annoyance
[name_f]My[/name_f] mom loved coordinating me and my sisters name.i guess it turned out pretty cute overall. And now all these years later. I am quite happy with the name she gave me
[name_f]My[/name_f] twin sister [name_f]Aubreyanna[/name_f] amd myself had cute matching name’s. We loved it
We sre super close especially because in the past year 2 years I went from being her brother to her sister. Its been so awesome. We are super close now as sisters
I really like a theme within twins just that subtle connection is really sweet for example [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] + [name_u]Noah[/name_u] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] + [name_u]Rose[/name_u] they feel subtle but clearly there is a theme between them. However I’m not keen on rhyming names like P0lly + D0lly (I know twins named this) for example or as @Ehrob1 when twins are given the same name for example [name_u]Michael[/name_u] + [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]
I personally am not a fan of super matchy twin names (sound wise or rhymey like [name_u]Gary[/name_u] and [name_u]Harry[/name_u], or [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and Zoe.) I would even avoid using twin names that start and end with the same letter (like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and Layla.) I just like the names to be unique!
If I were to name twins, I would give them names that have the same feel and give the same vibe- but are not matchy- I just think it’s cooler.
First names I would choose if I were naming twins:
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Coppelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]
[name_f]Flavia[/name_f] and Porsia
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] and [name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] and [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
If I wanted to go more matchy, I would link them through the middle name on a theme like flower names [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_u]Rose[/name_u], or same meaning names like [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_u]Esme[/name_u].
Some twins I know:
[name_f]Ame[/name_f] and Eme (Ah-mee and Eh-mee)
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] and [name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Aisha[/name_f]
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nella[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_u]Akira[/name_u] and [name_f]Sakura[/name_f]
[name_f]Bella[/name_f] and [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
Yeah me and my sister will still get teased sometimes by friends because mom made are names so similar
I mean Arriana anf Aubreyanna Im just glad I didn’t get Kayla because we were almost and Layla But the bomd with a twin is teally powerful
We have always been more like sisters pretty much forever
I pretty much always wanted yo be one of the girls so it was seamless for to start transition
But the bomd between twins is strong
Especially even more so as like sisters
