Twin Sister to Eloise

It definitely sounds like you have a lot to think about! I’ll start with the [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] question. To me these are different enough; they have different starting and ending sounds, the emphasized sounds are different, and the vowel sounds are different unless you’re really rushing. Plus they have different history, etc. so they’re not actually related as names. The nickname [name_f]Elle[/name_f] for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] helps too. I would definitely be comfortable using them together, but of course it’s a matter of personal preference! I also love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] from your current list. I feel like you really can’t go wrong here though–so many lovely names!

Congrats on twins! I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a very nice choice. Have you considered:
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]/[name_f]Aubree[/name_f]
Abeliene
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Evie[/name_f]
Good luck!

Hey!
I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is gorgeous and so is [name_u]Kit[/name_u].
Have you considered [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f]/[name_f]Kerenza[/name_f]? It’s an old cornish name meaning ‘love’ and it’s quite rare here, never mind elsewhere but it’s simply gorgeous (pronounced kuh/keh-renz-a)
It could be shortened to [name_u]Kit[/name_u] but you’ll also have nicknames like [name_f]Kiki[/name_f] and [name_u]Kenzie[/name_u] available to you too, and I think it sounds gorgeous with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]!!

Love these final options! I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] work well together, especially with the nickname [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is my other favorite option. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] works perfectly with your set, but it feels a tad bit boring compared to [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a little different than the other sibling’s names and I don’t love the shared G with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] and shared E with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] from [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is also a beautiful name but I don’t think it’s quite the right fit. And [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is lovely, but it seems like you’re not quite in love with it.

I’d love to see and hear another name beginning with a vowel for the third girl in the family.

G@briel, Im0gen, [name_m]Eloi[/name_m]$e and…

Anna - [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f] - [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] - [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Adaline[/name_f] - [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f]

OR… I can see [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] working nicely with the other names. Down side is that two siblings would share the same letter, though different beginning sounds. Also twins would have matching nickname sounds, [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f], which could be cute.

@dandy_orchid Definitely a lot to think about! And overthink at that! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is the exact opposite, and most of our exchanges go along the lines of me saying I like a name combination, him saying then let’s use that, and then me backtracking because surely we can’t decide that easily! Anyway, thank you for the confirmation about [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], that does help a lot!

@namesleuth23 [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] was actually on our list, but it’s just too close to [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], I think! I’ve always loved [name_f]Emma[/name_f], too, just wish it wasn’t so popular. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is lovely!

@QuirkFlower I hadn’t thought about the shared G and E, but I think I’m in agreement and would ultimately prefer unique initials. Thank you!

Oh that sucks!
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] sound so cute together!

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]
[name_u]Shelly[/name_u] [name_f]May[/name_f]

Okay, I’m back, with hopefully out last short list! As always, any and all feedback (positive or negative) is much appreciated. This time, I’ve included a pro/con with each of them… [name_m]Can[/name_m] you tell I’m overthinking a bit? I think it’s because I know it’s our last kid and the last name we’ll pick out.

  • Lucy [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
pro: one of my favorite names, honors a dear family member, and matches our sibset well.
con: she’d be the only name with two syllables instead of three… not that that should matter, but i tend to overthink things like that!
  • Anna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
pro: [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f]… it sounds great together! Also honors another family member.
con: the two syllables! again! I’ve also been told by a friend that [name_f]Anna[/name_f]’s pretty popular in our area, so I don’t know if I love that.
  • Annabel [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
pro: [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] still sound lovely together and we would be able to use [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as a nickname still!
con: I can’t tell if it’s too frilly in comparison to our existing names
  • Audrey [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
pro: I love this name and think it sounds gorgeous with our other names.
con: I was recently reminded that there are sisters within our church named [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], which would be very close to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f].

So, of these four, which do you prefer? Are any of my cons silly? As much as I love names, I’m eagerly awaiting the day where I can stop thinking about them! (At least for my own kids- coming up with other names is still fun, haha)

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is my top pick for you! The two syllables is definitely not a deal breaker! Of your cons list, I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is the least usable in your situation.

You have such a great list–I can completely understand how you would have trouble deciding between them. On the bright side, it really seems like you can’t go wrong here. I’ll give you my thoughts on each of your options in case it’s helpful!

Lucy [name_f]Florence[/name_f]–I love the flow of this name, I think it pairs nicely with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], and the family connection makes it extra special! I don’t think the two-versus-three syllables issue is very noticeable, especially if you plan to use the nickname “[name_f]Elle[/name_f]” for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] some of the time.

Anna [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]–Pretty much everything I said about [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], I think also holds true for [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]! I slightly prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], but honestly I love both.

Annabel [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/Annabel/Clementine–I completely agree with you that [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] are perfect together, and I don’t find [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] too frilly with your existing names. The only thing I don’t like about this combo is the rhyming of [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f], but that would only really matter if you don’t nickname [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and do consistently nickname [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. I also think I would prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] with a shorter middle, but that’s totally a personal preference thing!

Audrey [name_f]Clara[/name_f]–I agree with you that [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] sounds beautiful with your other names! I do think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] is very close to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f], which could be a bummer if you share a close community with the other family (or if it bothers you, regardless of how close you are). Since you’re trying to narrow things down, I might eliminate this one on this basis, but otherwise I think it’s lovely. If [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is one of your favorites, I wonder if you might consider [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]? I know alliteration isn’t for everyone, but I love it in this case!

I don’t think your cons are “silly” by any means, but I do think all of your choices are wonderful. [name_f]My[/name_f] very favorite is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], and I would rank the rest in the order you wrote them if you would be consistently nicknaming [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].

Lucy [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]

Even though I ranked them, there is not a single name here I don’t like–you have such a wonderful list. Good luck!!

I adore [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], but I personally do feel like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] are a bit too close. They don’t look similar, but the same sounds are definitely there in both names  I think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is such a lovely choice for your sibset, especially because you can use the more streamlined [name_f]Anna[/name_f] if you prefer. I agree with a PP that I would prefer a shorter middle name for her, though.

[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] sounds like a picture perfect sibset honestly.
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] & [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] would be ADORABLE. That’s my vote

Eloise [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Kathy[/name_f] [name_f]Inez[/name_f] possibly?

Mmm I love an A name with your sibset and I think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is awesome. I would worry a little about the “elle” and “belle” nickname potential but it doesn’t necessarily matter.

I have [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] on my own list (not a combo you suggested but I love it, [name_f]Ada[/name_f] was my great-grandmother’s name). I also LOVE [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. Both those names make me think of a super chic 1920s woman that everybody adores. I like the idea of number four breaking from the mould syllables-wise. I always seem to get a little loose on the youngest when I’m dreaming up sibsets.

Ada [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is beautiful! I’ve also worried about the [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/Belle nickname issue, but I’m personally not into the idea of using [name_f]Belle[/name_f]- I’m pretty certain we’d only use [name_f]Anna[/name_f] or possibly [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband also brought up how we could call her “[name_f]Anna[/name_f] B”, which I think is sweet as well.

It’s so funny, it seems like the last name we think of ends up gaining traction really quick - when we first started, [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] wasn’t even on our radar!

I love [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], but not too wild about [name_f]Kathy[/name_f]! But even if I was, we have too many aunts to use it. Unfortunately, [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] seems to be the family names that everyone uses, so many of the nicknames ([name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Katie[/name_f]/Katy, [name_u]Kaye[/name_u], [name_f]Kathy[/name_f], etc.) are ruled out.

Gah, this is the issue I’m having too! We currently live on the [name_u]East[/name_u] Coast and, as I’ve asked my friends to try saying them out loud, you can distinctly hear a difference. However, we are moving to the south in late 2020 and, as I’ve asked my southern family to pronounce them, [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] starts coming out more like “el-LOUISE”. I’ve been thinking about shorter nicknames and really like your suggestion of [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and also [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f] (a name we love, but couldn’t use as a first!)

Thank you so much, your input is very helpful and much appreciated! I do worry about the potential rhyming of [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and think that, should we use it, we’d probably have to stress a lot over the first few years that her nickname is [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/Annie, not [name_f]Belle[/name_f]/Bella. I just mentioned it above, but I really do like the idea of a shorter middle - possibly [name_u]Wren[/name_u] or [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but I also think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is gorgeous! [name_f]My[/name_f] extended family tends gift monogrammed items and there is something satisfying about a balanced monogram, haha
