Twins and middle name help.

I am having a girl and a boy. For the girl I have picked [name]Finn[/name] (our last name is [name]Archer[/name]) but what is a good name to go with it for my son? Also, I am having trouble picking a middle name for [name]Finn[/name]. If you could help me that would be super. Thanks!

Congratulations on your twins! I have to say that when I hear [name]Finn[/name], I assume it’s a boy, and only a boy. :frowning: Would you at least conider [name]Finley[/name]? Then again, even with [name]Finley[/name], it would be nearly impossible to determine which one is the boy/girl. Perhaps [name]Finola[/name] would be a good Irish solution, as you could call her [name]Finn[/name] as a nickname. (Better yet, your little boy can be [name]Finn[/name], [name]Finley[/name], [name]Finnegan[/name], etc.)

On paper, [name]Finn[/name] with make it will look like you have two sons. If this is what you want, however, and it doesn’t bother you that you’ll have to correct people over and over, then go for it!

You’re obviously a fan of Irish and surname names, so here are some ideas that may be of some help:

Best wishes to you!

I would not name a little girl [name]Finn[/name]. [name]Finn[/name] is a great name for a boy. I would use [name]Finn[/name] as a nickname for the gorgeous [name]Phineas[/name] or the so cool [name]Finnian[/name]. Then I would pick a very cute Irish nickname for my little girl such as [name]Gemma[/name], [name]Sorcha[/name], [name]Briony[/name], or something like that. Or I’d pick something super hip and British-sounding like [name]Pippa[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], or [name]Daphne[/name].

What about Finnlin [name]Belle[/name] [name]Archer[/name] for you daughter. [name]Finn[/name] for her nickname.

Ooh just saw [name]Finella[/name] on an Irish list as a variation of [name]Finola[/name]. Quite pretty and girly but you can still use [name]Finn[/name] as a nn. Not sure about the flow of [name]Finella[/name] [name]Archer[/name] but a one syllable middle name would help eg [name]Finella[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Archer[/name].
