Twins named Amadeus and Antoinette

What would you think if you met twins named [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] and [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m]?

I would think that the tastes are great, but that the names were quite mismatched. [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] is very [name_m]German[/name_m], while [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is very [name_m]French[/name_m]. I’m not sure that I like them together, sorry! They are both great names separately, though.

Sweet! I’d let the little boy go by [name_m]Deuce[/name_m], though.

I love them together!

I love it! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they have different origins, they are connected through history. They both are long, elegant, sophisticated, and all around great. I’d think the parents were very cool.

I love [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m]! They are nicely matched in length, syllables and elegance.

I would think of powdered wigs, bustle skirts and lace collars. Too [name_m]OTT[/name_m] frilly/fusty for me, sorry, but I also don’t like either name individually… just not my taste.

I love [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] and I like [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. They pair well together though.

I love [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] more than [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] ([name_f]Antonia[/name_f] is my favourite version of the name). [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] and [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] would be a better matched duo but [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is ok too. I would think that the parents were music and history buffs and wanted to share their passions with their children.

I suppose it would depend on the family. If I knew nothing about the family, I’d think [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] was ok but [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] is just too weird. Most people are familiar with [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] [name_m]Mozart[/name_m], but I just don’t think it translates well into a name.

I’d be a little thrown by the historic [name_m]French[/name_m] connection. I’d also hope poor [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] doesn’t lose her head over that name (chucklechuckle)

I’m actually not a huge fan of them for twins, but separately I think both names are great. I slightly prefer [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] to [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m].
I think it would seem less in your face if they were simply siblings, maybe also with an [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] thrown in the mix somewhere. =]

I think they are great together.
I like that they share the A start but are otherwise very different in origin, meaning and most known context.

I like [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], and [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] on its own is OK, but together they sound kind of pretentious.

I must say I am pleasantly surprised by all the positive feedback. These two as a set have been a GP of mine for a long time. I have strong doubts that DH would ever buy them as first names [name_m]IRL[/name_m], maybe as middle names, but I do love them. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you think they would sound as siblings for [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]?

I would think, “Oh those poor babies”! Those are hard names to carry in real life.

Well, I’ll compliment their parents for such a great taste.

Ditto this exactly! Nice styles, nice names, but in my mind, they don’t complement each other at all.
I think [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] and [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] would work a lot better, though I do like [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f].

I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it. [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], it doesn’t really get much more beautiful than that, does it now? I like that they aren’t necessarily matching in style, both names start with an A after all, so I don’t think they need to get even more matchy (but again, I’m the kind of person who find matching twinsets really tacky). I applaud you for coming up with such a phenomenal set of names

I would be incredibly excited to meet twins called [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], especially is nicknamed [name_m]Deuce[/name_m] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. These are beautiful names, and even though they have different backgrounds, they make a perfect sibset. I think they are sophisticated and refined, but both can have such playful nicknames.

[name_m]Amadeus[/name_m]: [name_f]Aman[/name_f] (GP: might be confused with [name_m]Amen[/name_m]), Deus (means ‘god’ in Latin), [name_m]Deuce[/name_m]

[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]: [name_f]Annie[/name_f]/[name_f]Anny[/name_f]/[name_f]Ani[/name_f] (I would love to meet a little [name_f]Annie[/name_f]! I think the name is adorable), [name_f]Toni[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f]/[name_f]Ettie[/name_f] (this one is also adorable, and reminds me vaguely of Arietty from the novel The Borrowers)
