We havent discussed these names with any of our friends, so please shhhhhhhhhhh LOL!
Twins due next week and have narrowed it down to 50 something of each gender …
We dont know sexes BTW - If two of the same sex will have loads to choose from .
We both agree, if one is boy, we like the idea of (Ale) [name]Xander[/name]… I put the Ale in brackets as we would usual the full name for birth certificate, but use [name]Xander[/name] as main name eg. a la [name]William[/name] / [name]Bill[/name], [name]James[/name] / [name]Jim[/name]
Right, the next bit is very embarassing LOL, so please be gentle…
I have always luuuuuurved [name]Alexandr/namea for a girl, to be shortened the other way - [name]Alexa[/name] / [name]Alexia[/name]
My hubby reckons this is totally ridiculous and says it shows we have no imagination (embarassed), but I see them as two very different names ie. [name]Xander[/name] + [name]Alexa[/name].
I understand…I would love to hear some other of your other names…
There is no reason you can’t use [name]Alexa[/name]…or [name]Xander[/name]…just not together…they are just way way too similar in their long forms…
Btw CONGRATULATIONS on your twins ! So exciting!
Big congrats! And yeah, noooo on [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Alexandria[/name] together… I’m sure you will find something absolutely marvelous to supplant [name]Alexa[/name]/[name]Alexia[/name] as your favorite
Agree with your husband. If you must do it, just use [name]Xander[/name] and [name]Alexa[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t go with [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Alexandria[/name]. That is just awful.
If they were both forms of [name]Alexander[/name] but in two different languages, say, [name]Alastair[/name] and [name]Alexa[/name], I would think that was at least a subtle-ish theme. [name]Sasha[/name], [name]Lexi[/name], [name]Sandrine[/name], [name]Alessandra[/name], [name]Alyosha[/name], etc. don’t all sound completely alike and you might be able to skate through with some of that.
But [name]Alexa[/name] and [name]Xander[/name] sounds like a joke name for twins, like you had to split a single name between them because there wasn’t enough to go around.
[name]Alexandria[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name] doesn’t sound good either.
So just use [name]Zander[/name] and [name]Alexa[/name]. Or even [name]Zander[/name] and [name]Alexandria[/name]. I like [name]Zander[/name] and [name]Alexis[/name].
Couldnt list the other names…soooooooooo many…plus we have disagreements on most of them.
[name]Both[/name] liked [name]Isabelle[/name] , due to Spanish origins, but seems everyone and their cat are calling their daughters that now… to say nothing of the fact my mother’s cat is called [name]Bella[/name] anyway !
Ideally wanted something that can be varied / shortened with lots of nickname options ie. no [name]Janes[/name] (which is my BF name + lovely but just so short!)
BTW when was researching the names A+A found someone had used them as the fictitious niece + nephew of [name]Sherlock[/name] [name]Holmes[/name] in a book!
Spanish: at the moment I love [name]Beatriz[/name], [name]Noemí[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Rafaela[/name] and a number of other delicious options with lots of nickname possibilities. Also [name]Isabella[/name] reminds me of [name]Isadora[/name]
Sorry nono to [name]Noemi[/name]
Franceseca is my mothers name - so a def No (long story!)
Had [name]Beatrice[/name] + [name]Rafaela[/name] on MY part of the list ie. hated by him
Thankyou am really chuffed by twins…long long time coming after sooo many years of treatment…and so happy we really dont care about gender :-)) BUT although B/G would be such a lovely thing its funny how its the one we’re most ??? on!
[name]Zander[/name] and [name]Alexa[/name] are both really nice names, but together it is a bit much sorry.
Other forms of the names for girl and boy:
[name]Alexander[/name], Alexeii, [name]Alastair[/name], [name]Zander[/name], [name]Ander[/name], [name]Alex[/name], [name]Lysander[/name], [name]Lex[/name].
[name]Alice[/name], [name]Alessandra[/name], [name]Sasha[/name], [name]Alexa[/name], [name]Lexi[/name], [name]Allie[/name], Xandria.
And other names not on the lists:
[name]Adriana[/name]
[name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Roxanna[/name]/[name]Roxana[/name]
I mean like my brother and I have very similar middle names (My name: [name]Madison[/name] [name]Alexis[/name], His name: [name]Mason[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]) and they work well together. But you know on the other hand [name]Mason[/name] is just [name]Madison[/name] without the d and i so they are very similar. Also I picked out his middle name because I want all of my siblings to have [name]Alex[/name] in their middle names and their first names to start with Ma.
[name]Future[/name] siblings and SUGGESTIONS! for you:
[name]Marissa[/name] [name]Alexa[/name] (nn. Rissa)
Marken Alexavier (nn. Mark)
[name]Makayla[/name] Alexsondra (nn. Kayla)
[name]Matthew[/name] Alexc (x is silent) (nn. Matt)
[name]MacKenna[/name] Alexiana (nn. Kenna)
You cannot have an [name]Alexander[/name] and an [name]Alexandra[/name] - what if they both, at some stage, decide to go by [name]Alex[/name] as a nickname?
I would suggest having a re-think and deciding whether you love [name]Alexander[/name]/[name]Xander[/name] or [name]Alexandra[/name]/[name]Alexa[/name] more. Whichever one you choose, pick something different for the other twin. You want them to be separate individuals and not known as the twins with (effectively) the same names.
At a push, you might get away with [name]Lysander[/name] and [name]Alexandra[/name] but I hesitate to suggest that as I think they’re still too matchy.
If you like [name]Alexa[/name]…why not [name]Alyssa[/name], [name]Alice[/name]/[name]Alicia[/name]/[name]Allison[/name], Arisha, [name]Lexie[/name], [name]Lissa[/name], [name]Elise[/name]/[name]Elisa[/name], [name]Eliza[/name]…
I agree with the ladies, you just can’t name your twins the male and female version of the same name. If [name]Alexandria[/name] is your all-time favourite girl’s name…wny not find a DIFFERENT BOY’s NAME??? [name]Alistair[/name], [name]Alden[/name], [name]Aldo[/name]…and those are just some “[name]Al[/name]'s” off the top of my head. Good luck, and huge congratulations to you!
