Twins run in my family and most of them are girls, so I’ve been playing with twin girl sets. Which ones are your favorites and why? I’d love suggestions too! I love vintage (or vintage sounding) names with a side of whimsy and mysticism. Not expecting yet. TTC
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] work brilliantly together
I’m really drawn to [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] — I never hear [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] anywhere, and she’s lovely with sweet [name_f]Lilou[/name_f]!
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
Though I prefer [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
I prefer nicknames [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
Oh, I absolutely love [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], especially with your older thread kids’ names! Those are brilliant. They’re so exciting!
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (nicknames [name_f]Dot[/name_f] and Opie are so great) as well as [name_f]Temperance[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] are delightful, too!
@highhippogriff I love [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] and [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] too. Seems like I’m the only one around these parts who does though. Especially [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] are super cute together! Thanks!
@wishmay Thanks! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] just seem like perfect twins to me with the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland and Nutcracker associations. [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] would get my mother in law’s initials and [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] would get my mom’s initials. That makes me love those two together even more. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]!
@diane921 I do like [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as well. I love the fact that they’d both have multiple NN options. Thanks!
@tori101 Thank you! It’s so funny you put [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] together. Those were my husband’s grandmother’s names. Unfortunately, they’re both ruined by our last name, but I do love them along with Rosemary+Marigold, Clemency+Rosalie, Prudence+Amabel, and Magnolia+Florence.
@Dechen I’m so glad you love [name_f]Carys[/name_f] and [name_f]Maple[/name_f]! They’re subtle nods to my great grandmothers on my mom’s side, [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] and [name_f]Maebelle[/name_f]. I love [name_u]Esme[/name_u] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f]! Thanks!
@snowmaiden I really love [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] too. Of all these names, they’ve been on my list the longest, over 10 years. I didn’t use them for my older daughters because I’ve always gotten such negative reactions towards them from family. I wonder if I’ll be brave enough to use them this time. Thank you!
I really like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] with [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] with [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (though I’d skip the nicknames - I certainly wouldn’t like to be called Opie!)
@marysia I’m not understanding the hate towards Opie? You’re certainly not the only one to express a dislike for it. Am I missing something? It just sounds like a sweet southern NN to me. There’s a sweet lady with a very southern accent on TikTok named [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] who goes by Opie. She really made me fall in love with it, but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] so I thought [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] worked nicely with it. I just want to be sure I’m not missing some slur or something. Thanks!
OP is a term refering to the original post(er) in a thread, but it also rhymes with dopey and mopy and other words with unpleasant connotations. Plus, it reminds me of opioids.
I LOVE [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (how cute are [name_f]Dot[/name_f] & Opie?!). I’ll also suggest:
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] and [name_f]Maple[/name_f] are dreamy - cute and lovely but bright and cool
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are charming and vintage
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] are distinctive and interesting!!
Some ideas:
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_u]Cleo[/name_u]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Coraline[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] (Miri and Ever)
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] (Tully and Clem)
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
@Strawberry_Traveler [name_f]Dot[/name_f] and Opie are just the cutest in my opinion. [name_u]Love[/name_u] Louisa+Rosemary and June+Pearl! Thank you!
@Greyblue I always enjoy your name descriptions. Thank you! [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] are so great together! [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] is another one that was one my list for years, but I took it off because I named my cat [name_u]Neo[/name_u]. [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are dreamy!
@sammaegre I really like those too. Today I’m leaning more towards [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. It’ll probably change tomorrow. lol Thanks
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a gorgeous, cohesive classic literary set! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the associations with them both.
[name_f]Maple[/name_f] & [name_f]Nola[/name_f] is fun, unexpected, and unique.
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is just regal – a wonderful revival of these longer classics with sweet and concise stand-out nickname options.
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] is precious, spunky, and definitely my personal favourite pair on your list!
