Two boy name questions (short)

  1. I generally don’t mind initials forming a word unless it’s something bad like A.S.S or whatnot, but are the initials B.O.T. bad? The combo I’m considering is [name]Blair[/name] [name]Oberon[/name], which I love how it sounds, but I do worry if BOT is going to be trouble or not.

I’ve considered spelling [name]Oberon[/name] as [name]Auberon[/name], but I don’t really like it with the Au-.

2. Pick the best middle name for [name]Cyrus[/name]:

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Mortimer[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Ferdinand[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Augustine[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Indigo[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Abraham[/name]

Thanks!!

[name]Love[/name] [name]Indigo[/name] for a boy so that gets my vote as a mn. [name]Emerson[/name] would be my second choice.

BOT isn’t horrible.

The only thing BOT makes me think of is a short form for robot. DH agrees.

My favourite [name]Cyrus[/name] combo is [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Ferdinand[/name].

Like Lilysong said, the only thing I think of it robot. But that would be kinda cool for a little boy I imagine  Not a problem at all!

I quite fancy [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Augustine[/name].

  1. BOT isn’t bad. Boys think robots are cool - I bet he’d like it!
  2. [name]Ferdinand[/name]
  1. I think BOT is ok. Honestly, how often are full initials even used for anything? Yes of course you want to avoid something like A.S.S. or S.T.D., but I think B.O.T. is ok. [name]Blair[/name] [name]Oberon[/name] is a cool name. I like [name]Oberon[/name] better than [name]Auberon[/name], but I do like the AI-AU pairing with [name]BlAIr[/name] [name]AUberon[/name]. But I actually prefer B.O.T. to B.A.T. B.O.T. looks like an author’s initials. [name]Blair[/name] O. Txxxx. O is a good middle initial.

  2. [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Mortimer[/name] or [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Ferdinand[/name] are my picks.
    [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]–to ess-y
    [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Augustine[/name]–too ancient
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Emerson[/name]–clashing name images (ancient/trendy, at least to my mind–I know [name]Emerson[/name] isn’t new as surname but as a given name it feels trendy)
    [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Indigo[/name]–don’t really like [name]Indigo[/name] that much
[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Abraham[/name]–this one is ok, but I think [name]Mortimer[/name] and [name]Ferdinand[/name] have more cool factor.

  1. BOT is okay. It may have other connotations such as Book of Time and things that will mean something to someone but I know of nothing offensive.

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Mortimer[/name] – I don’t care for this. the name [name]Mortimer[/name] is affiliated with an old Edger [name]Bergen[/name] dummy character who was slow-witted so it has a poor connotation to me. CMT

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Ferdinand[/name] – I think of the little dancing bull or [name]Ferdinand[/name] [name]Marcos[/name] the corrupt leader of the Philippines. CFT

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] – nice although the last name would make a difference with the multiple S sounds but if it is t you’re good. SST

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Augustine[/name] – Very emperor-like, [name]CAT[/name]

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Emerson[/name]I love this. It’s classy without sounding pretentious. It has a touch of the old fashion without being too trendy. My favorite. CET

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Indigo[/name] – This Is nice, kinda whimsical. CIT

[name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Abraham[/name] – Nice and solid. [name]CAT[/name]

iamamiam: Thank you. I like [name]Indigo[/name] for either gender, but right now I am loving it more for a boy.

lilysong: Robots aren’t bad, so that’s good! Thanks!

alliecat: I’m glad to hear that about robots, I hadn’t even thought of it, but a boy would probably like it, yes. I can’t help but notice you have Sansa in your signature. Out of curiosity, do you have a specific MN pair for that one?

thatkathryngirl: That would be the hope. Thank you for chiming in!

capturedcastle: [name]Glad[/name] you like [name]Blair[/name] [name]Oberon[/name]. I think I have to agree with your thoughts on [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name], and [name]Augustine[/name]. I really like those three names, but they don’t work as much as some of the other MN’s on my shortlist.

red_shoes: I think Edger [name]Bergen[/name] may have been a little before my time? Is that [name]Mortimer[/name] from a movie or a show? My last name begins with T but it does has an S in it, so it may be borderline too much S to have all three names that way.

I agree with the others–I can only think of bot, as in robot. I would be more concerned with B.O. for body odor…

As for [name]Cyrus[/name], I’m really loving [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Ferdinand[/name]! Very cool. I would love [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Inigo[/name], if that had been an option instead of [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Indigo[/name]. (What can I say? I love The [name]Princess[/name] [name]Bride[/name]!)

I love [name]Princess[/name] [name]Bride[/name] too. So tempted by [name]Inigo[/name], haha. Or [name]Westley[/name]. If only [name]Wesley[/name] wasn’t so darned popular!

BOT is OK.

I like [name]Cyrus[/name] [name]Augustine[/name] and [name]Ferdinand[/name].
