Two days to go and no name! Help...

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I can’t seem to agree on anything.

He likes [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Emily[/name_f], but I really don’t want a name that’s in the ‘top 10 most popular’ - our son is [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], and I don’t like how common the name is.

I like:
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] - husband is worried people will mispronounce it.
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] - worried about how to shorten it - doesn’t have a good nickname option
[name_f]Amber[/name_f] - I’ve never met an [name_f]Amber[/name_f], but I think it can come off ‘cheap’ - someone said something about it being a stripper name.
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] - a little too traditional, maybe? Not in love with ‘[name_u]Julie[/name_u]’ or ‘[name_u]Jules[/name_u]’ as nick names.
[name_f]Lula[/name_f] - not sure about this one. I like it, but it’s a little ‘out there’.

Any other great suggestions? I seem to like names that give a visual picture - I quite like color names like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]. If is wasn’t ‘cheesy’ I would have liked ‘[name_u]Skye[/name_u]’ for a name…

Starting to panic. Giving birth on [name_m]Saturday[/name_m]!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite from your list is [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]- you could shorten it to [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] for a nickname?

What about [name_f]Olive[/name_f]? It sounds like a top ten name ([name_f]Olivia[/name_f]) and is also a color. [name_f]My[/name_f] other thought is [name_f]Snow[/name_f]. Good luck!

I agree with you. Not a fan of Emma or Emily.

Mila - I can understand his worry. I thought of a few ways to pronounce it and not sure which way you like it.
Scarlett - I really love this name! NN could be Lettie.
Amber - My first thought is not stripper, but I am not a fan of this name in general.
Juliette - I don’t think this name is too traditional. I think it’s unique but not weird. This is one of my favorite names. NN option could be Lettie as well.
Lula - I prefer Lola.

Other options:
Willow
Autumn
Hazel
Rosalie
Poppy

I was also going to suggest [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]/[name_f]Letty[/name_f] for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] / [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is pretty. You can use the nickname ‘[name_u]Jet[/name_u]’! (but keep in mind, that would give you two J names).

If you like [name_u]Skye[/name_u], maybe you should just use it! Or [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] - What a great combo!

You’ll figure it out! God bless!

If you’re worried about [name_f]Amber[/name_f] being too cheap and [name_f]Emily[/name_f]/[name_f]Emma[/name_f] being too popular - do you like [name_u]Ember[/name_u]? It has the vivid colour imagery you’re looking for, I have the same reds/oranges as [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] in mind. It just feels perfect here.

Ooh - thank you guys for the input. I’m so glad I posted!

I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Lettie[/name_f], but it might grow on me.
Mermuse - I love [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u].

I’m glad people like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] /[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] as well, I think it ticks a lot of boxes - ‘traditional’ for my husband, but still something a little different. I actually quite like the idea of having two ‘J’ names.

JamJam, my husband is worried people will pronounce [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as ‘[name_m]Miller[/name_m]’ instead of Meela. I think he’s also a little scared off because it’s not a stock-standard name that you would have heard 20 years ago.

I like [name_f]Willow[/name_f] - I will definitely run it past my husband tonight. I also like [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], but we had a cat named [name_f]Autumn[/name_f].

Hungrymuse, not too sure about [name_f]Olive[/name_f], but thanks for the suggestion.

Oliviasarah - I really like [name_u]Ember[/name_u], but I did run that past my husband and he sort of cringed. Again, I think it’s just a bit too non-traditional for him. But now that it’s crunch time, maybe he will consider some of my names… Thanks - glad you like [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]

Again, thank you for the input everybody!

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is a wonderful name indeed ! Have you considered [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_f]Emily[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f] ([name_f]Mimi[/name_f] is a potential nickname)? It is less popular than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but still traditional… [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] is lovely too, in the same spirit. But [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] (or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]) really is wonderful and I think the nicknames are controllable!
Good luck for the very last stretch of pregnancy and congratulations!

I think [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] & [name_f]Emily[/name_f] go beautifully together, but I understand not wanting a name that’s too popular.

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] are both lovely with [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] too. You could use the nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for either of them.

Other Suggestions - [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Indigo[/name_f], [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f]

I thought about [name_f]Mildred[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. Your husband could be satisfied about strong, traditional name, and you could be satisfied about sweet, everyday nickname  I think [name_f]Mildred[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is a thrilling combo; also, [name_f]Mildred[/name_f] and [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] work well together.
From your picks, as other berries mentioned, I really like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Etta[/name_f] as a nickname, but I also like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] other suggestion could be [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] - despite it’s nature connection, it is also a beautiful color.
[name_f]My[/name_f] personal favourite when it comes to color names is [name_f]Jade[/name_f] - I just love it’s softness and strong feel at the same time. It’s also quite classic - isn’t it?
Another color name I love is [name_f]Vermilion[/name_f] - but only as a middle name.
I also love [name_f]Emma[/name_f], despite it’s popularity. I strongly associate this name with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u]'s [name_f]Emma[/name_f], which I think is a beautiful connection. If I were you, I’d use [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_u]Skye[/name_u] as a middle name - depending on first name choice.
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f]; [name_f]Jade[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]…
Good luck with the name, and congatulations!!!

I’ve seen [name_u]Scout[/name_u] used as a nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] you could also consider [name_f]Arla[/name_f]

[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxane[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Winslet[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]

[name_m]Joshua[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are a great sibset! [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] sounds pretty as well.

Honestly, I think you could get away with using [name_u]Skye[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. Especially if you pick something like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] as a mn. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] nn [name_u]Sky[/name_u] works for me

If you like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and visual names have you considered [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? Seems like a perfect fit. There’s also things like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

Of the names already suggested, I like [name_f]Jade[/name_f] best. “[name_f]Jade[/name_f] and [name_m]Joshua[/name_m]” or “[name_m]Josh[/name_m] and [name_f]Jade[/name_f]” too cute…I think it is FINE to have 2 “J” names, but…if you’re planning on having, say, 4 or 5 kids, I would advise against it. [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]BIL[/name_m] has 4 kids all starting with a hard “C” sound and it makes most people cringe. Plus it gets confusing.

Nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], how 'bout [name_f]Etta[/name_f]? Your DH might like the jazzy, almost old-Hollywood vibe. I think of [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] (my baby’s favorite lullabye is [name_u]Dream[/name_u] a [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_u]Dream[/name_u] of Me, so that’s my nn vote!)

GOOD [name_m]LUCK[/name_m] AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I know people say negative things about [name_f]Amber[/name_f] but I still love it.

Other options?

[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Macy[/name_f]
[name_f]Miley[/name_f] (Does [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] ruin this name for everyone?)
[name_f]Myla[/name_f]
[name_u]Jacey[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]

Miley (Does Cyrus ruin this name for everyone?)

It does for me. PS hope I did the quote things right I’m new here

Wow, thanks guys.
Yeah, no hope for [name_f]Miley[/name_f], I’m afraid…

x14556, unfortunately we have close friends with a daughter called [name_f]Jade[/name_f]. I also love the name [name_f]Jade[/name_f]. We’re stopping after 2, so no danger of too many 'J’s.

kala_way, I do like the idea of [name_u]Skye[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], that could be a good solution.

I’ve considered [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but it’s a little lower down the list than the rest.

I’m liking [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u].

Thanks everyone - so nice to have so many great opinions!

[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]? [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]? [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you have a great birth!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Carly[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]? I also like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] from your list
