Two middle names - Too much?

My husband and I are expecting a baby boy in [name_u]January[/name_u] and are having a hard time choosing middle names.
We both love the name [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as a first name and [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m] will be the last name, but I would really like to incorporate both my father and grandfather’s names in the mix.
We are looking at
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Alex[/name_u] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_u]Alex[/name_u] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]

I have said them all so many times, I can’t even tell what flows anymore. Which sounds best? Are all of these names too much with a one-syllable first name? Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to incorporate all three names into our new addition’s name?!
Thanks!

I don’t think two middles are necessarily too much, but [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] are both quite long and sound like a real mouthful next to one another. I also don’t really like nicknames being used as full names, though, so… have you considered using one of the longer names as a first and breaking them up with [name_u]Finn[/name_u]?

Example:
[name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] K.

That, to me, sounds a lot better, and you could just call him [name_u]Finn[/name_u].

Good luck!

I am personally not a fan of double middle names. They have a very high risk of error and are difficult to utilize well. Having said that, I understand and respect your desire to venerate your father and grandfather. If you were to use one of the listed combinations, my preference are for the final two…

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]

…I do not believe long names should be a negative strike to not use them. And to be honest, I actually think those two have a fluid, clear appearance and sound, whereas something like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Alex[/name_u] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_u]Alex[/name_u] seem very turbulent and irregular to me (in general, I dislike nicknames to be used as legal first/middle names).

As Esrever88 mentioned, it may also be worth your time to consider options like [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]. It is supremely feasible to do so and then use the middle name ([name_u]Finn[/name_u]) as his “call name.” I know many people (mostly men) who do so, and a couple of them have even been notably appreciative of the freedom it gave and expressed interest in bestowing an identical/similar style to their future children.

Warm congratulations to you and your husband!

Two middles is fine and I dont think it matters if they are a “mouthful”. They wont often get used and their main purpose is to honour those important men in your life - to my mind that is far more important than “flow”.
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] sounds fine and very handsome ro me.

I have to say thougg I agree with both pp’s about nicknames as first or middles. I much prefer the full name.

I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m].

I also like the idea mentioned of using [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as a middle and calling him [name_u]Finn[/name_u].

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! My brother and myself both have two middle names, I can honestly say neither one of us has ever had trouble with documents or any “confusion”. And we both go by our second name, for example my name is [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] [name_u]Montana[/name_u] lastname and I go by [name_f]Paige[/name_f]. So I vote for two middle names bc I have always gotten positive feedback with mine

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] great choice!!
& [name_m]How[/name_m] about instead if using [name_u]Tony[/name_u] use Tone as a middle.
And I like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] better than [name_u]Alex[/name_u].
That’s just my small input
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you find what your looking for!

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] is by far the best combination. Again, as others have said, the nicknames are far too choppy with [name_u]Finn[/name_u].

I do like the concept of two middles, and I don’t think you need to worry about it being too much.

I think that having two middle names is lovely, I regularly include my confirmation name in mine simply because I love having two middle names! My name is [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_f]Lucie[/name_f], my elder sister is [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], and my younger brother is [name_m]Finton[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u].

Out of your names, my favourites would be [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m]. They don’t sound to wordy at all, its a great combination

I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] the best for sure! [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is nice too!

I think three names can flow together like a river.

I also think three names can sound terrible together.

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] is cool, but [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Alex[/name_u] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] sounds more like a list of three boys than one name.

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is good, but adding another casual name ([name_u]Tony[/name_u]) after it sounds off to me.

This must be why people used to give their child their favorite name as a middle and then called the child that. Because it sounded best in the middle.

What about [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and call him [name_u]Finn[/name_u]?

I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]! My husband and his siblings both have two middle names and it has never seemed to be an issue. In fact, growing up people thought it was really interesting and often led to further discussion about who the names honored! I say go for it.

I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. I like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m] best, to avoid the repeated -er endings so close together, but I just like [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] next to each other more in general, anyway. I think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m] would be great! I’m a big proponent of two middles. Barring any major protestations from my future husband, all my children will have two middles. I think it’s a great option.

[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_m]Kaiser[/name_m], this one flows the bet in my opinion
