My husband and I are expecting our fourth child and are considering the name [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] if it’s a boy. [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] - to honor my Irish ancestors; [name_u]Rex[/name_u] - after DH’s dad. My only real concern at the moment is the that we have a one-syllable last name and the 2-1-1 pattern feels a little… terse… to me.
Would it be crazy if we gave him a second middle name to lengthen/balance it out? I like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]… any thoughts?
I wouldn’t give him a second middle name just so the combo flows well, middle names are so rarely used that, while we make a big deal out of them on here (because it’s fun), nobody really thinks about if [name_u]Rex[/name_u] and LN are both one syllable.
If [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (love) or [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] are names you’d like to use anyway then I say go ahead, however, if you’re only trying to find something to balance out the flow then don’t use them.
Fwiw, I like the quirkiness of [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] and think it actually sounds quite cool with a one-syllable-surname, at leas the ones I thought of in my head ([name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Brown[/name_m], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Greene[/name_m],… all sound great to me).
I love the name [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. As a general rule, I dislike second middle names. For 32 years I worked in education so a 2nd MN was annoying on forms & paper work.
I love [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]! And I love two middles so my vote is yes! I think I like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] more than the [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] combo.
I dont think [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] needs a second middle name. If I had to choose between [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], though, I would choose [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is fine but I think [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] sounds better in the combo. [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] has a better flow (at least to my ear) than [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Rex[/name_u] [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], especially with a one syllable last name. Not sure how you feel about T. [name_u]Rex[/name_u] as a middle name, but he would probably love it
