What are you thoughts on having two middles names? If you have or gave your babies two middle names, was/is it a hassle?
I’m expecting my first baby. [name_f]My[/name_f] other half and I have discussed names and found our styles are quite different so we’ve agreed on a compromise to use a traditional first name (my style) with a nickname and middle name to cater to his style. We did discuss using my last name as a middle name before this however as the baby will have his. I’m torn between using it still as well as sticking to our compromise.
It would be something like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Story[/name_u] Q LN with the nickname [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] for a girl or [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_u]Bodhi[/name_u] Q LN with the nickname [name_u]Eli[/name_u] for a boy. Thoughts?
I like the idea of 2 middles and I’ll probably give my future kids 2 middles. The only exception would be if you already had 2 very long names which you don’t.
I think two middles is fine, especially if one of them is your maiden name! [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Story[/name_u] “[name_u]Mattie[/name_u]” and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_u]Bodhi[/name_u] “[name_u]Eli[/name_u]” are both stunning names!
I have two and intend to use two on any future children. It’s never been hassley! I think [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Story[/name_u] is delightful! [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_u]Bodhi[/name_u] is very sweet too. I think it’s entirely doable for you to use a name along the lines of:
your style – his style – your last name – his last name
Thanks for the replies. I think we’re going to go with two middle names. [name_f]My[/name_f] surname is quite commonly used a first name for either gender anyway and fits his style too especially on a girl. I feel like we’ve gotten really far with our compromise!
I have two middle names (one middle and two surnames, actually!) and it was never an hassle to me. However, that’s traditional in my country so I never had problems with any documents.
I love that you want to use your surname! Having both parents’ surnames creates a lovely connection with both sides of the family, in my opinion (and promoves equality for both genders!).
Matilda Story and Elias Bodhi are wonderful names!
