My husband and I cannot agree on one middle name, as we would both like to honor our fathers via the middle name - possibly to use both. First name is not a family name, just one that we both love.
We are concerned about the logistics of two middle names with paperwork, initials, and for baby’s own sanity - does anyone have any (positive or negative) experience with this? Thanks in advance!
[name_f]My[/name_f] fiancé and his siblings have two middle names, and they seem to get through life just fine.
They write their full initials with both middle names, and in situations where they’re “expected” to only have one middle name, they use the first one
. Socially, my fiancé says people he went to school with found it “cool” that he had two middle names
I have two middle names! It’s never been a hassle to deal with on paperwork or for initials. If a middle initial is ever required, the initial of the first middle name works for me! Positive experience here - I say do it!
I have had enough trouble having 2 middles that I wouldn’t use 2 for a child. I would find a name that mixes both names instead. I think it is not as common in some areas of the world and can get tricky in those places.
I have one middle name and two surnames (the first one works like a second middle name) and I never had problems with that! I actually know a lot of people with more than 4 names. However, that’s the tradition where I live.
If you want to honor both grandfathers, I believe a double middle name would be perfect!
i have two middle names and i love them !! it’s never been inconvenient. on some official things (e.g. with doctors) only the first middle is listed in full, so i become sappho theodora h surname (except obviously with my real name), but on id they are both listed in full without issue. for initials, i write both (sths), but when there’s only room for one, i only write the first (sts). i know so many people with two middles - like a solid third of people around me have them, and it’s really never a problem at all.
I don’t personally have two middles, but I think it sounds quite nice and nobody I know has any major issues with them! The only thing I can recall is my friend bringing up how annoying it is that when her mother is mad at her, she needs to call out four names instead of three
Well I have a middle name and a confirmation name but I kind of just use them both as middle names. Does that make sense? Like I use them both equally, I like having them both and it means I can kind of use either or both of them together.hope this helps.
Several of my cousins have 2 MNs. They have no problems with them in everyday life. I do have one cousin in the military though and they restrict them to a single MN… it’s not to say he doesn’t use both, but only one is listed on his military files and paperwork.
