Two names and no more ideas for baby no. 3

Hello there.

We’re a pair of overthinkers with type A personalities, trying to name baby no. 3, a girl. So far we’ve only come up with two name ideas that spark joy: [name_u]Marian[/name_u], which is our favorite way to honor multiple [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_u]Marie[/name_u] ladies on the family tree, and [name_f]Elise[/name_f], because we love the piano and Beethoven’s Für [name_f]Elise[/name_f].

Other than these two, we’re disagreeing on some names he likes, some names I like and not coming up with anything new. Are these the two names we should focus on or is it better to keep looking?

Between [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_u]Marian[/name_u], which one do you recommend to join [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]?

Both great options – you really can’t go wrong! I’d go for [name_u]Marian[/name_u] personally, as I like that all of your children would have an ‘m’ in their names for a subtle connection.

Elise fits better imo! with Samuel being masculine and Amalia being feminine, i think using a feminine name works better. the connection with your shared love of the piano and Für Elise is really sweet.

do you have a middle name picked yet? would you consider Elise Marian? or even Elise Mariana?

I can see why you are having a difficult time deciding. I like them both equally. I usually try to look for a difference in vowel sounds or phonetics, but both of these go well with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]. If I had to choose I would pick [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. Both girls would start with a vowel, all names contain an l. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u] would be beautiful .

I like [name_f]Elise[/name_f] with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Amalia[/name_f].

I agree [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] would make a wonderful name.

[name_u]Marian[/name_u] is the best option IMO. Maybe [name_u]Marian[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]? That’s a lovely combo!

First, a question to get clarification. Would you be pronouncing [name_u]Marian[/name_u] like “Marion” or like “Mary Ann?”

If you are still open to ideas on that realm there is also"Miriam."

However, why not [name_u]Marian[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u]?

Regarding honoring family members, are these family members who are still alive and around much and will express they feel especially honored by being named after? [name_u]Or[/name_u] if this more for you just to have the connection? If it’s the latter then id say definitely go with the name you have bigger instinct about and simply like better. Everything else will fall into place thereafter. Best of luck

I like [name_f]Elise[/name_f] the best with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] & [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u] or even [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Mariana[/name_f] like others mentioned is beautiful and flows very well :white_heart::sparkles:

Both are lovely but I like [name_u]Marian[/name_u] for you! It gives all your kids prominent Ms in their names and has that ‘strong but sweet’ vibe

Both are lovely options and you can’t really go wrong! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite, however is [name_f]Elise[/name_f]! I love the balance with [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] & [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] :star2:

I would go with [name_f]Elise[/name_f] - the musical link is lovely and she has such a sweet gentle sound, also I think she fits the vibes of your other names a little better (Amalia and [name_u]Marian[/name_u] might be a bit of a mouthful if you have to call both names together?) That said [name_u]Marian[/name_u] is a lovely choice with loads of history to it and I’d be super excited to meet a tiny [name_u]Marian[/name_u]!

Oh my goodness, you have such amazing taste in names! I adore both [name_u]Marian[/name_u] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but with your other two I especially love how [name_u]Marian[/name_u] sounds! It connects with the “a” and “m” sounds in the other kids’ names! I honestly wouldn’t actively search for any other names since you have such solid options. That said, if you happen upon another perfect name, then go for it!

Both are lovely but I think with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] I would go for [name_f]Elise[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] personal problem is having too many favourites so if you’ve got two you love I would stick with them

Suggestions:

[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u]

Marelise would be a great way to combine these two favorites!

Hmmm, Marian links to both names through the M, and Elise through the L…. They both work! Marian makes the group more solid and tailored - Elise is also trim but softer like Amalia and Samuel.

These days I’m leaning towards Marianne over Marian (probably sparked by Normal People). I think Marianne Elise and Elise Marianne are beautiful! And so are Marian Elise and Elise Marian, depending also on flow to last name. Maybe Marian (which I presuming is almost the “Marion” pronunciation?) is more sophisticated but it can feel a little abrupt.

Elise is a name I’ve loved since my teen years (when I met one). It’s so pretty and lovely to the ear. The only thing that would stop me using it would be the nn Ellie. The Elise I knew was only ever Elise (actually for some reason she always got called Elise + last name by everyone).

Anyway, not sure I’ve helped but I think if Elise as a full name is the go (not Ellie) then I would go Elise - and only if won’t be too close to Amalia’s nn’s (eg they could both have Lily).
