Okay so I have two separate questions. I hope you can help me!!!
[name]Anchor[/name]. My hubby saw it written down in my baby name notebook and said he loved it. Actually he called it bada$$. Which is fantastic, I guess. But here’s my dilemma. Our last name is [name]Miller[/name]. AND we already have a son that I broke the rhymey end rule with… [name]DextER[/name] [name]MillER[/name]. [name]How[/name] do you think it flows? [name]Anchor[/name] [name]Miller[/name]. Also any nn suggestions?
[name]Connie[/name]. I already have a girls name picked out so this is total theoretical if I were to have a second girl in the far future. Anyway, My grandmother’s name is [name]Corrine[/name] but she goes by [name]Connie[/name]. And while I like [name]Corrine[/name] nn [name]Connie[/name], I don’t think it will go with my other children’s names. So do you know of any other names that can produce the nn [name]Connie[/name]? Other than [name]Constance[/name]<I like it but not enough. I love word names. I love vintage names. I love English names.
[name]Pilot[/name], [name]Dexter[/name] and [name]Anker[/name] I think it would fit better.
Or
[name]Anson[/name]
Darth probaby as a middle
[name]Remington[/name]
[name]Derry[/name]/[name]Derrick[/name]
[name]Rigg[/name]/[name]Rigby[/name]
[name]Soren[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Viktor[/name]
Xenon (prnd as zenon)
[name]Vale[/name]
[name]Anchor[/name] is awful, just awful. It’s NOT a name for christsake. I hate this fad where everyone tries to be so unique by coming up with stupid names that are not even names. The rhyme-y-ness of the ending of the name with your last name would be the last of my worries.
It may be becoming more popular now to use word names and it may be a “fad” but people have been giving there kids word names since colonial days. I have two ancestors named Goodwife and Mindwell from the early 1800s. If I said I was naming him [name]Hunter[/name] or a girl [name]Holly[/name] or [name]June[/name] I’m betting you wouldn’t have commented as you did because you recognize them as names when in fact, they are words. I don’t knock people down for considering yet another [name]Mason[/name] or [name]Isabella[/name]. I respect everyone’s style and if I have nothing nice to say about another’s name, I either offer other suggestions or say nothing at all. I grew up an [name]Amanda[/name] and I wish my name was s
Our last name has two syllables and ends in -er, too, and my brother chose [name]Walter[/name] for his first son. His wife is currently expecting, and they plan to use [name]Peter[/name] if it’s a boy. I really don’t think it’s a big deal, and [name]Anchor[/name] [name]Miller[/name] flows as well as [name]Pilot[/name] [name]Miller[/name] or [name]Dexter[/name] [name]Miller[/name], imo. As far as nicknames go, [name]Anchor[/name] doesn’t seem to lend itself to any except [name]Ani[/name]/[name]Annie[/name] (or maybe [name]Captain[/name] or [name]Sailor[/name]?). I guess would just think of it as a no-nickname-name or allow a nickname to develop naturally over time, perhaps based on his personality or appearance.
[name]Connie[/name] could come from [name]Constant[/name] or [name]Concordia[/name], perhaps? It’s more of a stretch, but there’s also [name]Colleen[/name], Coriander, [name]Cornelia[/name], or [name]Corona[/name]. You could also gender-bend a bit and look at names like [name]Deacon[/name], [name]Connor[/name], and [name]Corin[/name].
[name]Conley[/name]
[name]Cornelia[/name]
Conda (I saw a Biggest Loser contestant was named this)
[name]Cameron[/name]–bit of a stretch
[name]Consuela[/name]
As for a nn for [name]Anchor[/name], perhaps [name]Ace[/name] or [name]Andy[/name] (doesn’t seem your style though).
Personally I find [name]Anchor[/name] [name]Miller[/name] a little difficult to say, but not a terrible name. They only nn I can think of is Core or Ank (like [name]Hank[/name] without the H), but that seems a little weird. Sorry I’m not much help there.
Names that could give you nn [name]Connie[/name]
Names that begin or end with “con”
[name]Connelly[/name]

[name]Colleen[/name]
Jessicat- you were perfect help there I love [name]Hank[/name] for the Nn sooooo much. I also think I’m starting to crush on [name]Colleen[/name] a bit. Thank you.
I can’t say I’m a fan of [name]Anchor[/name], but I think it could be an interesting middle name. That said, you seem to love word names so I think an [name]Anchor[/name] would fit right into your family.
I agree with pp, [name]Anchor[/name] [name]Miller[/name] is kind of hard to say, I feel like I have to stop completely to finish [name]Anchor[/name] before saying [name]Miller[/name].
I love the suggestion of [name]Cornelia[/name], huge fan of this name. I can’t think of any other [name]Connie[/name] names that haven’t been mentioned, but you could also do something so her initial are CONM, f/e [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Opal[/name] [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Miller[/name], and call her [name]Connie[/name] that way?
[name]Anchor[/name] is nms but I think it goes great with your other boys’ names. It’s okay with your last name. I like [name]Colleen[/name] with the nn [name]Connie[/name].
Well with this next baby, if it’s a girl, her name will be [name]Marigold[/name] Whimsy. DH said it was the most beautiful name ever. So I guess thats that so I was more thinking of how well [name]Corrine[/name] fits with [name]Marigold[/name]. I just love the idea of [name]Goldie[/name] and [name]Connie[/name]. But anyway, that’s only IF we have a fourth.
I do like [name]Remington[/name] but I don’t [name]LOVE[/name] it. DH loves it, but I like short names for boys. [name]One[/name] or two syllables max. [name]Anchor[/name] Grimm nn [name]Hank[/name] is still on my list but I"m not sure if it’s perfect even if DH thinks it is. Other names on my boys list…
[name]Fleet[/name] [name]Norman[/name]- Probably my favorite
Forth [name]Winsome[/name]- also really love
I guess its a good thing I’m starting early. I’m going to need time for this.

[name]Constantia[/name]
[name]Constantina[/name]
[name]Connolly[/name]
[name]Constanza[/name]
[name]Contina[/name]
[name]Gioconda[/name] (“lighthearted” - a reference to [name]Mona[/name] [name]Lisa[/name] with her mysterious smile)
I love [name]Anchor[/name] [name]Miller[/name], and I like it with [name]Dexter[/name] [name]Miller[/name]. My only nickname suggestion would be [name]Cory[/name]. As for your second question, if I liked [name]Connie[/name], I would just name my daughter [name]Connie[/name] with no longer name. I like nicknamey names.
I have been thinking about names and I came upon the famous person Lockhart [name]Steele[/name]. I thought that the name [name]Steele[/name] may fit very well with your sibset, [name]Pilot[/name], [name]Dexter[/name] and [name]Steele[/name].
If you were looking for a girl’s name then getting inspiration from [name]Steele[/name] I would suggest [name]Estelle[/name].
@rollo- Well I do have a girls name. And I do really like [name]Steele[/name]! [name]Do[/name] you think it may be a bit masculine compared to [name]Pilot[/name] and [name]Dexter[/name] or no? I always think that I view my kid’s names differently than other people. [name]Fleet[/name] is still my favorite. Can’t decide if I like [name]Fleet[/name] [name]Norman[/name] or [name]Fleet[/name] [name]Winsome[/name] more?
Thanks again!
