I like the nickname [name_m]Brock[/name_m]. I think it’s cute but it also has a nice masculine ring to it.
I adore the nickname [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] ([name_m]Bear[/name_m] slightly more). I prefer [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] over [name_m]Broderick[/name_m], although I feel neutral about both. You also might like [name_m]Espen[/name_m]? [name_m]Espen[/name_m] means “God’s bear”, so you could still use [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as a nickname.
I love the nickname [name_m]Brock[/name_m] too. I knew a [name_m]Brock[/name_m] when I was a child and he was one of the most upstanding kids in our class and school so it has good associations for me. And I grew up in Brockville, which gives it meaning to me!
For [name_u]Barrett[/name_u], we are now living on the west coast and we feel like a name that means “bear strength” has a good west coast feel to it - as well as it’s association with the gun manufacture (people are big into hunting out here) also ties it in with his brother [name_m]Archer[/name_m] in a kind of subtle way.
I like [name_m]Espen[/name_m], but we are looking for a B name only for a boy! We have the alphabet theme going… son [name_m]Archer[/name_m], B____, me [name_f]Carol[/name_f], husband [name_m]David[/name_m], daughter [name_f]Elena[/name_f], daughter [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

I voted [name_m]Broderick[/name_m] because I think it fits your set a bit better, but I like both names.
It feels more formal than [name_u]Barrett[/name_u], but I admit the nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is super adorable.
After sitting on it 24 hours, it was funny my hubby came home and said the exact same thing that I was thinking about [name_u]Barrett[/name_u], that we like it but “it’s just not us”. But the nn [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is so so cute! But, I also love the nn [name_m]Brock[/name_m]!
I find it interesting that [name_m]Broderick[/name_m] isn’t even in the top 1000 this last year, and [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] sits at a high #313, yet when we poll you folks [name_m]Broderick[/name_m] seems to have a small edge. To me, that’s a huge thing - this name that isn’t even in the top 1000, it can contend and even beat a #313 name… that’s pretty awesome. Seems like a winner name to me, less used and more liked, if that makes sense! The poll has been great to see, hope people keep voting!!
