What would you name [name_u]Harmony[/name_u]'s brother???
We have been through so many names in the past 16 weeks and we still don’t have one that really stands out for us.
With our daughter, [name_u]Harmony[/name_u], there were a lot of connections we felt to the name because 1) We both enjoy music 2) We liked the idea of her bringing harmony into our lives 3) Her name and my name would start with the same initial.
We cannot seem to find a boy’s name that gives us that same feel. Having two kids with “word” names seems a little cheesy but we can’t find traditional names with meanings that really resonate with us. For instance we’ve liked [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] which both reference “darkness” which really won’t apply to our pasty white, blue eyed, blonde haired baby hehe We’ve found names that sound “nice” but none that have really struck us as being special to us.
We’d like something that is based in nature or music or reflects happiness, joy, lightness, kindness etc. We’re open to any suggestions at this point.
If only you were having a girl, I could suggest [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] which means happiness but you’re not so here’s some suggestions [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] is a beautiful name by the way.
It’s lovely to see that your daughter’s name carries so much significance for you and your OH, so I can definitely understand why it’s so difficult to find a name for your little boy that has as much meaning and significance! I think both of the names you’ve considered, Cole and Kieran, both go well with your daughter’s name, in particular Cole. Even though they would both (technically) be word names, I think they pair really nicely and I don’t really tend to think of Cole as a word name when I hear it anymore!
Have you perhaps considered Nicholas nn Cole? Though it doesn’t have any obvious ties to music and/or nature (none that I can think of, anyway! ), I think it goes together with Harmony nicely, and you’d still have access to Cole as a nickname!
Maybe some of these names could work:
Asher (fortunate/blessed)
Ashton (ash trees place)
Noah (rest/wandering)
William/Liam (resolute protection)
Koa (warrior - but it also has connections to a species of tree!)
Reece/Rhys (ardor)
George (farmer)
Lincoln
Lachlan
Felix
Jasper
And some musical options!:
Rocco
Bowie
Jagger
Axel/Axl
Franklin/Frank
Anthony
Jett
Amadeus/Amadeo
Jackson
Good luck on deciding on a name and enjoy your little boy!
When you describe what you want, and the likely appearance of the child, [name_u]River[/name_u] comes to mind. It seems peaceful yet spirited, natural, crisp, and light. It also works well with [name_u]Harmony[/name_u].
I’ll limit myself to names starting with n (so he can share an initial with [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], like [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] does with you).
I like @cellularconfusion’s suggestion of [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] (or a variant like [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m]).
I suspect [name_u]Noah[/name_u] might be too popular for you, but it’s a nice name and works well with [name_u]Harmony[/name_u].
Some less common options (meanings just from nb - I haven’t researched them properly):
[name_u]Neil[/name_u] / [name_u]Niall[/name_u] - ‘cloud’ + some musical namesakes ([name_u]Neil[/name_u] [name_m]Young[/name_m], [name_u]Neil[/name_u] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]). [name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_u]Neil[/name_u] I’ve met has been thoughtful and kind.
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m] - champion. If [name_m]Cole[/name_m] appeals, perhaps [name_m]Nole[/name_m] will too?
[name_u]Noel[/name_u] - keeping on the [name_m]Cole[/name_m]/[name_m]Nole[/name_m] theme.
[name_m]Nelson[/name_m] - if you’re fond of [name_m]Mandela[/name_m]
[name_m]Nestor[/name_m] - traveller
[name_m]Nevin[/name_m] - holy
[name_u]Neo[/name_u] / [name_u]Nouvel[/name_u] - new
[name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m] - victory of the people
[name_m]Nilo[/name_m] - Spanish diminutive of [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Noam[/name_m] - pleasantness, charm, tenderness
[name_m]Noaz[/name_m] - bold
