two weeks to decide

Girl names are so hard for me. I find that I love a lot of combos but you don’t often say the first and middle name together.

For firsts [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] seem to be front runners. But I’m iffy on them. I have been calling my lady [name_u]Nelly[/name_u] Belly the last week. I like the nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and feel like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] could work as a full name for [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

I also don’t care for the fact that I know of a sibset that exists of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u] (son’s name). Granted I’ve never hung out with them but just knowing seems to bug me.

Some other names we like and are at the top of our list are [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].

All of these names are in the top 100 in my state (yes even [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]) with [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] being the most popular with around 200 girls named it last year. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (not this spelling) is the least popular of them all with around 60 girls but that doesn’t take into account the Annabels that could exist.

I recently thought of the name [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and we both like it. Maybe there are some less popular choices I haven’t thought of.

So going from our list what are some suggestions you have for less popular names? What are your favorites from our current list?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] so you know, names we like but can’t use: [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names, [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], and probably a bunch more. The husband can’t be talked into [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Maren[/name_f]/[name_f]Marin[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Arianne[/name_f] or [name_f]Elena[/name_f] which are some of my other favorites. He does like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] but there are just too many Amelias for me.

My first thought was [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], and then I saw it in your signature. It has that [name_f]Anna[/name_f]- sound you like as well as the long EE, plus I think you can still make sense of [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as a nickname (anneliese). It’s been heard of my most people, but it’s not likely to be the name of someone they know.
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo, as is [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] [name_f]Odette[/name_f].

What about [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] with nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f]? [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is top 100, but I think more go by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Nora[/name_f] than [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. Of your current list, [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is my favorite. I’m a fan. I also know a [name_f]Nell[/name_f] who has that as her full name.

Other ideas outside top 100:

[name_f]Adela[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f] works great and it’s my favorite (next to [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]) from your list.

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Nella[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Delia[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]

What about… [name_f]Annora[/name_f]? It combines the two names while not being made up at all. It’s a solid name, with the meaning “honour”. And not popular at all. [name_f]Annora[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], maybe?

Other than that, I second [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Odetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]

I second the suggestion of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]

[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]

[name_f]Jenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Laila[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], nn. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] works well.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would be my suggestion too. [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] might work if [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is too popular where you live. I like the idea of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], nn. [name_f]Nell[/name_f], too.

There have been lots of good suggestions, so I thought I’d focus on some other options to get to [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

[name_f]Nell[/name_f] is traditionally a nn for [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I think any [name_f]El[/name_f]- or Hel- name could work:

[name_f]Helene[/name_f]
[name_f]Heloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] / [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] / [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elixane[/name_f]
[name_f]Elka[/name_f]
[name_f]Elea[/name_f]
[name_f]Elocadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elysande[/name_f] / Elisende/ Helisende
[name_f]Eluned[/name_f]
[name_f]Elaine[/name_f]
[name_f]Finella[/name_f]

For [name_f]Nora[/name_f]:
[name_f]Honora[/name_f]
[name_f]Honoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Sonora[/name_f]

Other thoughts:
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f], nn. [name_u]Dell[/name_u], [name_u]Dell[/name_u], Dephi?
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Liana[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]

I’m personally loving [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], especially with the nickname link to [name_f]Nell[/name_f] that you have in mind.

Here are a few more names, trying to think of less common ones:
[name_f]Noa[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Joelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Josiane[/name_f] ([name_u]Josie[/name_u])

I love [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] would be my second favourite.

I like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Nell[/name_f]!

[name_f]Nella[/name_f], Nellina, Nelonna, Anelene, [name_f]Nishelle[/name_f], Nelece
