Out of 8 grandchildren there will only be 3 boys. My son, his future brother and their cousin [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] (also my godson). I like the name [name_u]Tyson[/name_u] but hesitant cause it’s another [name_m]Ty[/name_m] name. They will be almost 7 years apart, don’t have the same last name, but will see each other a lot (we are very close)… are the names too close? We don’t plan on calling my son [name_m]Ty[/name_m] and don’t call [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] that either.
I don’t think it’s a problem if they aren’t both called [name_m]Ty[/name_m].
I don’t think it matters.
We had a similar situation with a [name_u]Grady[/name_u] and a [name_m]Grayson[/name_m], only a few years apart, and they’ve been fine. As long as there’s not going to be two [name_m]Ty[/name_m]'s, and especially with a 7 year age gap, I don’t think it’s an issue.
I have a nearly 4-year old son [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] who is cousin to [name_m]Anders[/name_m] (it his nickname but he never uses his full name). We don’t see each other very often and [name_m]Anders[/name_m] is a decade older. But my mom does get mixed up and now calls [name_m]Anders[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] a times which annoys my sister because [name_m]Anders[/name_m] names should be established at this point.
So I say go for it but be aware there will likely be some confusion.
I think it’s fine. They have a large age gap, and they are different names.
If you get any confusion about it, it will be within the first year, which, in the scope of things really isn’t that long.
